S$583? That's cheap. So they have it over at CP? I'm seriously considering this lens. Would you guys say that it's good and comparable to the Nikkor version?

yes. limited stock. please don't buy my copy! hahahah

anyway, at a fraction of the price do you really think it will be comparable? the nikkor will certainly be better.

Done.

Got it in a pristine condition (second-hand) from the shop at Peninsular late evening just now. The one with PRC mei-mei salesgirl. Forgot the name of the place. Bought it at $480. :)

CP got the cheapest? i just bought it at OP @ $580 net. The focus is rather slow, is it normal? my Nikkor 18-200 can focus much faster! Can any1 help me with this? But i find the range suitable for me, as it gives me more reach at 75mm compared to 17-50.

about the same lah. 545 + 7% = $583, b+w uv at 45 + 7%.

yes, focus slower than the nikkor af-s in lower light situations. welll... its a tamron after all!

has anybody compared the IQ with the Nikkor 18-200mm? mine is not sharp, at f2.8 and 5.6 (18-200 only can use this). Can send back to service?

I got my Tamron 28 ~ 75mm F2.8 around 2 years back.

My copy is very sharp, and initially, I couldn't quite believe what I saw, very impressive results from a third party zoom lens. Like most people have mentioned, the only draw back is the focusing speed of the built in motor (in my case, Canon model). But not too slow for me, since I don't shoot action pics.

Otherwise, it is probably one of the best around, assuming if you get a good copy.

(Do note that lenses varies in QC, calibration, etc. There will inevitably be sample variations)

A pix using the Tamron 28-75/f2.8 for sharing.

I have the Sigma, but in hindsight I figure I should've gone for the Tamron. 82mm filters are not only expensive, but also hard to find! :(

Performance-wise, I'm quite satisfied with the Sigma on my D700. Haven't tried the Tamron though.

How is the AF performance of the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 motorised version? I tried the non-motorised version but I read reviews about the slow AF for the motorised version...

I believe that the speed depends on your camera model.

My motorised Tammy 28-75 focuses pretty fast on my Nikon D700. So far, I've not heard of any complaints about this lens being slow on a D700. H/W, I've read reviews from other camera users that the focus is slow.
