The Sigma 24-70 f2.8 in the polling list is version I or version II (with HSM) ?

Because the version II has much improvement comparing with the old version.

I asked the same question in Page 3 (#51) :)

This thread is started a few years ago. The comparison is with the older Sigma 24-70. Not with the newer HSM one.

This is a very hard question to answer....

This poll is created in 2004, while the sigma hsm version is released in 2009. What do u think the poll is about?

Hmm you are right, comparison with the old version

This will be helpful if someone update this comparison with the new version of Sigma 24-70 HSM. This thread may mislead some people who is not aware ...

Sigma HSM version is almost 3 times more expensive than Tamron..

Any bro can enlighten me what does the LD XR Aspherical SP 4.14 means? thinking of getting this highly recommended lens for my 450.

I just bought the Tamron 28-75 F2.8 and no regrets.. it's a good lens at a good price $590 dollars;p:D:)

Do a Google search.

The strange "4.14" seems to refer to someone's test results on a scale of 1-5.

i heard we can get the grey tamron one for ard $400-500. does anybody which shop is that?

Is the 28-75 wide enough for group shots?

Yes, wide enough in Full Frame
28 mm in full frame body is equivalent with 18 mm in cropped body

what's the latest price for sigma 24-70 f2.8 (not HSM)?

My recent price check is $800 @ OP for the Sigma (Macro).

Actually I am in a dilemma of which lens to get....the Tamron or Sigma? I was told that they are fast lens so the additional motorised gear like HSM is not necessary...how true is it?

I want one of this lens to capture by active baby girl.....so the AF should be crucial. Speaking of AF, does it varies between cameras? Lets say my current 400D compare to the Mark II?

thanks for the update man. babies, is difficult to shoot even at 1.8, therefore you need to have good timing, good light so that you can have fast shutter, so i guess it doesn't really matter which lens.

speaking of lens, of course the original is better if it suits your budget, why not.

my shooting is not that good, i don't see the justification of getting the original, so i'll settle with 3rd party at this point of time.

there is no cure for BBB virus, so maximize what you can have and afford.

Just got the Sigma and looks like have to go to SSC.
