No lah...;p I have not bought the DSLR yet. Currently i have been trying to search for a lens to go with the camera. Tamron 17 -50mm F2.8 seems like a good choice. I just receive the quote from MS C for $660. I am hoping to get both the camera and lens this week. Not too sure if a good deal will pop up in B & S for this lens during this week.

Btw, what happened to your Tamron 28-75 f2.8?

Its already back from Japan a few months ago. It's sharper then before. Its used 2 b quite soft at f2.8, now its sharper. I heard tat Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 is better then Tamron 17-50mm f2.8. But the Sigma is more expensive then Tamron. Maybe u could start a thread asking which is better, Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 or Tamron 17-50mm f2.8?

So is the lens sharp or is the Quality control so bad that there's more unsharp verisons around than sharp?

Dunno about the rest. My copy bought last week is sharp and I am very happy with it.

what makes you think so? :dunno:

from what people have been saying here that they have to try a few copies of the same lens before finally finding a sharp on...or am i reading too much into it?

from what i have read up so far, the tamron seems to be a tad sharper with more contrasty colors than the sigma.

so the tokina one is the worst of the lot?

most expensive. not necc. the worst.

Tamron QC quite bad. I'm sure everyone knows abt it.

not too sure about the tamrons, but i guess it goes for all brands.
caveat emptor. better check goods before laying out your cash.

most prob getting the tamron from MS. hopefully weekend will have some time.

Check out John 3:16. They might have less stock, but I daresay they're the most patient people around.

John 3:16 is the best place I have been so far... I am their permanent customer now

Best service, no questions asked and I changed three different lens and he still told me "If you still not happy with your lens then come back, we will give you another one" :bsmilie:

I got Tamron 17-50 first, decided that I dont use wide too much so changed it with 28-70 later felt that wide is also necessary so changed to Sigma 17-70

He was cool and patient! The sigma is not constant 2.8 but its very sharp

Still starts at f2.8 @ 17mm to 4.5 @ 70mm not so bad eh!

Change on the day itself?

No boss... used for one or two days each and changed :p

Sam, the owner, is very helpful and friendly...

  not directed against u faisalee.. no offence :) ..

just an objective question..but what is going to happen to the lenses that has been used for 1-2 days and exchanged? continue to put up for sale to other customers as a "New" lens?? Or do they return the exchanged lens to the supplier?

Is this common practice in the other shops as well?? As in allowing returns and exchange of lenses that somebody used for 1 or 2 days cos they are not satisfied with it? I know exchange is common in US, but in Singapore?

Got mine from Alan Photo SLS. Nice to have lens ;)

as long as it is still in good condition, i don't see a problem. i mean if you were in faisalee's shoes, i guess you'd also appreciate john 3:16's flexibility, tio bo?
