oh icic. Guess sony mount wont have motor. :P But this lens actually increased price. I did a comparison of the quote i got recently and a few mths back, it actually increase by approx. $40. The 7% GST is costly.

the old 1 is sharp enough for me..
but since i hav no choice but to find a 2nd hand tamron or just 4get about it and buy a prime 50mm 1.8... cheap and good!!

haha. but 2nd hand one also tough to find le. I dun mind 2nd hand also. Anyway tamron international warranty onli 1 yr. so dun really matter here. But i have not come across someone selling 2nd hand tamron lens for alpha mount. pengz.

oh, coz on the front page of shashinka.com, they have this clickable link back to their webpage but the text is John 3:16. LOL
So i am misleaded. hahaha
...

The owner is probably a Christian and puts the verse on his front page. That's all. Haha.

It already happened...just have to live with it or work around it.

John 3:16 is a store selling camera and lenses lah... (located at Funan centre)...

I think everyone is pretty clear about that.

What some people do not know is that its name is inspired by a verse from the Bible, with the reference being, namely, John 3:16.

is this lens available in stock in sg shops?

OP sells it at 600.and AP funan at 620.

anyone posting photos taken by this new lense? with built in motor one?

My friend went overseas and got his tamron 17-50 with built in motor (nikon mount) for about 2780 HKD, which roughly translates as 480 SGD. Quite difference if you compare to the prices reflected locally. And if you get it in HK, you can exchange the 5 years warranty to ONE year international warranty at the head office.

So those going to HK, don't miss out!

the prices for most items are typically cheaper in hkg.. no doubt about it..but u need to make sure that your exhange rate what you had cater for..
2780hkg = 480singapore is only possible if you had change your currency base on 5.8 rate.
if u use credit card to pay for it. u will end up having a rate of about 5.45 or so as this is our local bank rate in term of currency exchange and for some shop they will cater in 2 to 3% into the cost. So ,for those going to hkg.. change your currency in sg first.
if u do it over in hkg. trust me your rate might be lower than that of the credit card.

I am amazed on how steep the price differences between Singapore lens prices and that in HK or Japan.

FYI: the lens in hongkong is cheaper than Japan.
I recently went to Japan, got this lens (alpha mount - new) for Y37,000 ~= $495
1 year international warranty
got it from Shinjuku, Yodobashi Camera..
opening price was Y41,000 , bargained a bit to the final value..
should print out price quotation from www.kakaku.com (best price from website was Y36,348)

if you're lucky, you'll get one salesman who bothers to try to match the price..
the 1st salesman I met at the shop, didn't bother to bargain with me, the second one was more willing to bargain..

useful basic info: here
