This lens is sharp with good contrast and colour saturation.

Shoot in NEF and adjusted to cooler WB.

I am going to AP tomorrow. A friendly staff from there just sms me. He quoted me 645 (it should be the lowest in singapore or i m not getting from there). Your price may differs as i am a regular customer to him (buy camera staffs lor... don't think others..:bsmilie: :sweatsm: :bsmilie: :sweatsm: ).

Anyone wants to make a visit to AP before 2 tomorrow.? I am going there around 1pm. After that i'll proceed to Suntec computer show. Sure u will get good price ( i hope so ).:bsmilie: Most probably i'll get one. If we buy more than one, we'll get the best price in singapore (i think so).

I bought it at $710 nett from the shop next to my working place. Not the best price but resonable price.You guys can look for mtunlinn to get the best price in town =)

heh if everyone thinks like that, then canon nikon etc can close shop liow. no need to make super sharp L lenses or G lenses or whatever. because who cares if lens not sharp.. can sharpen in photoshop.

actually i agree with kraterz. its not a question of photoshop sharpening. to me, i must like the picture out of the camera.before i even put it to photoshop. and im not terribly impressed with what i see in terms of resolution from looking at the picture of the guy playing chess..

Most probably from the chess pic is because he was using ISO500.

Heehee, I also interested to see how much sharper an L zoom lens like 17-35 or 16-35 can get when shooting wide open at f/2.8 (no sharpening with software hor, dun cheat) compared to cheapo tamrons lenses.

Pls any owner of the above 2 Ls, pls impress me with your sharp sharp f/2.8 pics, help me to justify throwing away my cheap 3rd parties and fork out 3x the price for an L is worth it.

sorry if i caused any confusion here.

im not saying that the tamron is much less sharper than an equivalent L just because of that phto. on photodo, it scored one of the highest MTF ratings of any lens they have tested.

all i was saying is that the picture of the old man, didnt look particularly sharp. that might be due to a number of factors ,including focusing, etc.

Went out to test power of my newly bought Tamron 17-50 F2.8. Very happy with the result. Here are some of the photos. Don't know will it look sharp for you guys.
ps:All photos never sharpen and color adjust by ps except resize and my signature.

1/60sec 17mm F10 ISO100

Hand held 1/3sec 17mm F2.8 ISO400

Hand held 1/2sec 17mm F2.8 ISO400

1/40sec 40mm F2.8 ISO800
Don't know what's the name of this band. They are good!

I don't think it's the resizing that makes PapaWayne's pic lose sharpness. It's generally because the 1/focal length rule wasn't followed in #2 & #3. Notice that #1 is sharp because the rule was followed. #04 was barely qualifies the rule and thus is reasonably sharp too

Think if a tripod was used, the #2 & #3 would have been sharp
