I use fb also cannot, prolly because you have the link before it was set to friends only bah.
Now we just have to plan how to take the biggest fireworks of the year with the biggest turnout.

Anyone working in UOB building or Maybank, etc...

Haiz nvm.

Anyway, i don't think those office building open till so late..

So either go SuPeR early, or get horribly obstructed/ no views... D:

Not true, I'm trying out what a guy did last year.
He used a super tall tripod and stood on a stool to shoot.
Only really bad luck can get you a tall inconsiderate guy to walk in front of your shot.

Every time there are fireworks (NDP, New Year etc), I always go to same place for photography, Marina Bay ;p...and generally have to go super-early, 4/5 hours before the fireworks begin, to get a decent place to setup my tripod...any ideas on alternatives? ...like from buildings etc. I once saw this shot of fireworks taken from The Padang .

To give you an idea, where were the following shots taken from:

The Padang shot looks nice but it would require a UWA lens which I'm saving up for.
The other links are all shot from buildings which have limited access to the public.
So it's back to the "Does anyone have access to these places" and do they mind having a few kindred souls join them.

Btw, mod I think this thread OT way off course liao. Could you help us move it to the appropriate channel. Thank you.

Later the guy behind you get fed up and push you while you are standing pecariously on the stool XD

So whats the plan now?

No idea yet. Probably act according to situation since I got a little bit of height advantage.
Maybe can discuss with you while back from CleonBus outing.
But confirm we won't be able to walk to the stretch at Esplanade as the blockade will commence at 6pm.
We will have to travel to Millienium Walk, Flyer and Helix bridge before reaching Esplanade.
So it's not possible.

I know I will be safe as long as you are behind me. :)

Well I found a spot while recce-ing today and the spot I chosen was right near the concert area.. But expecting to camp there frm 5-ish i also found anth spot at marina square stairwell... U don't get as clear a view as the front row but shooting over the esplanade u cAn catch the fireworks wif a backdrop of the top half of the same shot taken at the front... Worth checking out.. But warning,it mayb stinky and dirty... It was when I was there juz nw....

Good effort lostsoulx90, the concert area has always been a hot spot.
I reckon 5pm might even be too late since this is the hotest event of the year.
Most of the foreign talents are given off on that day so they will go there too.

The stinky stairwell is also good, its enough for three tripods side by side.
But remember to recce where are the launch pads so that you can position your camera correctly.

haha yea gd point... the other place of intrest to me is at the one fullerton... but gotta be in b4 5pm or get shut out....

seniors, are you guys using special technique to capture the fireworks, any special filter/lens..etc etc.

Fullerton area might be cordoned off by police for the patrons dining there.
It's definitely a hot spot there just like the bridge besides it.

Sian, soon it will become a competition between who has more "no life so is willing to spend time waiting for a 15min fireworks".

My present main worry is that there isn't any strong wind blowing at night unless it is accompanied by rain.
I got one too many smoky fireworks to last me a year, not interested to add another to my collection.

but are there any other places that is gonna have fireworks besides the normal crowded area?
like some community centres?
