yah, taiwan, korea and japan can be very similar in many ways.

wow it looks like you've been to the whole of taiwan... free & easy or package?
Seems like you might be a good choice to ask for some advice then.
My friend and I are going down there during Xmas, for about 9 days. Which places might you guys recommend with nice sights - both scenery and the town itself...? As in, out of Taipei.. Ilan? Hua Lien? Alishan?? Miaoli? Hsin Chu? Tao yuan? We're probably only gonna visit two or three other places before heading back to Taipei.

free and easy. i was there for close to a year for work. but i didn't stop by miaoli and taoyuan. and given a chance, i would really like to go ilan. that is almost 2 years ago and i'm lost in touch with the specific details and can only give general advices.

for me, i like travel with scenic + cultural variety - so i probably would be suggesting places that is out of what singaporeans usually go. xmas will be cold, but if you are prepared for it, qingjing near hohuan mountains in nantou would be very beautiful and romantic, however transport is difficult and will require some asking around locally & risking of unexpected outcomes which would not be nice if you are bringing a girl or someone less adventurous. i did that previously by calling various bus company to check out where to take bus and what is the schedule - and ended up also taking some local taxi which is very expensive as i travelled alone.

want something easier but just as fun?
go along the trains to visit the eastern part (ilan-hualian-taidong). however, not too sure if the coastline is good in the winter. i thought it is more fun going up the mountains to see the snow (which i think would be difficult for most foreigners). actually, it is best to visit taiwan in march-apr if you can consider that - where most flowers bloom in spring.

planning wise. get the latest lonely planet. get a general idea. go over and get more local books (in chinese) in their cheng-pin book store for more information.

#84 an old train station out of focus (misfocused on the window pane)

disclaimer: shot by a friend, our photos all get mixed up together on sharing, so i can't trace who is that. post processed by me.

hey zoossh..

Can u teach me how u process this one? it's absolutely great stuff there....

this one? nothing much. i just increase the proportion of shadow and highlight versus the midtone by a function called levels.

maybe you can post your pictures at the critique corners or darkroom and ask specific question on post processing. that way you can learn more and derives more specific answers. if not, your question may be very open ended and too much can be said and nobody knows how to start and end.
