Taipei - any nice place to shoot?

Will be going there for F&E soon. Any advice on good places (e.g. nature scenery) to shoot or visit (e.g. hot spring)?

Hi,

There are a few places in Taipei for shooting landscape. Jiu Fen, north of Taipei near Keelung has beautiful mountain and sea scape. Yamingsan is rather commercial but go further up the mountain to get better shot. Hot springs are nice to use but not spectacular.

Have fun, rather cold now, temp can dip to 14 degree in the evening. Day is cool at about 20 degree. Enjoy.

uhm.. wats F&E? uhm.. remember to take the resturant thats like the olden day thinggie 1... its beside a expressway one... and, the rest stops aint too bad too... hope you have a local friend or sumthing.

Yoz....I will be there from Jan 5th. Maybe we can meet up. Here's a list of what you can take.

Taipei City:
-Hua Xi Street: snake alley, have fun eating the snakes there, don't allow pics for their show tho.

-Taipei 101: latest skyscraper, one of the tallest in the world.

-Shi Lin Nite Market: Great place for shopping and makan. A nite life hub

-Xi Men Ding: Hip place for shopping, you will see a lot of school kids there and the latest hip hop fashion here. Some girls might be willing to let you take their pic if you look pro enuff. Might see some idols there too.

-Chiang Kai Shek Mem Hall: Huge monument in the midst of the city.

-Taipei Main station. asiaworld(largest mall in asia), there's also lost of temples and monuments you can go to too....

-Warner Village: The area around it is quite nice.

- Lai Lai Hotel: One of the best hotels in Taipei, the building design is based on the old chinese architecture. This is the one that Myst is recommending.

- NTU: National Taiwan University; worth taking a look, the main plaza and walkway is very nostalgic, you will never see classrooms like this in Singapore.
Around Taipei:
- Tan Shui: Nice scenic spot, avoid weekends tho, very packed.
- Yang Ming Shan: Commerical Tourist spot
- North of Taipei; Keelung: 40+ mins drive, nice harbour view, fantastic at the evenings.

There's still a lot that i can recommend, but these are the main ones. I had spent a week there and I still think I miss out on a lot.

one more place I forgot: Zhong Xiao Dong Lu, the longest pan city road in Taipei, bustling with activity there. good for nite scenes and long exposure shots.

there's nothing much to take at Yang Ming Shan now cos it's winter now.. no flower..BUT, enjoy the hot spring over there

To answer some queries, I'll be there for a free & easy (F&E)package and will depart on New Year's eve.

Could anyone advise on how to get to Yangmingshan or Wulai? We're debating whether to go to peitou which is accessible by MTR or the two other locations....

Would be going to Jilong too to visit the miaokou night market.

Hmmm...I remembered chientan MTR stop there is a bus to go to Yang Ming Shan, its public transport. As for Wu Lai, I haven't been there so I don't know. You can go to a hotel lobby and ask for help there.
