Tablet and smart phones

Besides Ipad and Galaxy Tab.. what other tablets have you used and would you recommend it?

Only 2 others that I find worthwhile
Asus Transformer - made by a brand name I trust, cheaper than ipad, uses android 3.0, has the option to "transform" in to a notebook. Don't think you can get in Singapore yet though.
Nook color - cheapest tablet, uses android 2.2, needs some tinkering before install apps. Good if all you need is to surf net and read ebooks. Think you can get this from hardwarezone or vr zone.

Personally I would get an ipad 2 or a 2nd hand ipad 1 if money is tight. But thats because I use it mainly to play games and share photos. iOS has more games than android.

my recommendation will be the iPad or iPad2. Adobe just announced 3 decent apps that makes your iPad much more useful especially for photographers.

It's on android too.

My recommendation is HTC flyer. At least you're not as "locked" as you are on an iPad.

As i am thinking of getting myself a tablet, sharing what i found so far

Higher end Android ( not out yet )

- Motorola Xoom
- Galaxy Tab 8.9" or 10.1" **
- Asus Eee Transformer

Good Value

- Nook color **
- Archos 101
- elocity A7
- Viewsonic g-tablet **

** No HDMI port

Personally, if i just want a tablet for internet, gaming, email , not hooking up to TV ( w/o HDMI ). I will go for iPad or nook color.

Panadol extra. :bsmilie:

I got myself a mac mini, hook it up to a decent TV and have my iPad serve as an 10" remote. the Remote app really syncs well to OSX.

I'm eyeing the Asus Eee Slate, with a powerful Intel i5 processor, IPS panel, 32G/64G SSD, Windows 7, USB host and card reader. I'd called Asus Singapore and they said will be here at end of April. Would prefer 10" rather than 12" though... :)

Wow.. so luxury.

Well, my consideration is based on 2 points. Portability and HDMI output. Of course hardware and price are also important as i don't want to splash monies on brand name and marketing.

Ipad2 is pretty good, with good software and nice design. However, 10" is kinda of too big, and it's a magnet for thiefs when you bring it for travel.

Creative's ZiiO 7" and 10". Not to mentioned, they recently launched a PlayChinese Tablet that is based on the ZiiO 7". The only issue I have with the Creative is that theirs are Resistive Touch screen and not capacitative touch screen like the ipad and Galaxy.

I played with both the 7" and 10" briefly, and they are quite lovely...

I just wish that all tablet comes with 3G or 4G or...?

Well, most of the tablets allow you to hook up to 3G via a external USB mobile modem. Save you some money for that. :)

Sorry.. I am referring to tablet like Galaxy Tab which allow you to make mobile phone call ... am I right to say when U attach an ext usb mobile modem, this allow you to use the tablet just like a smart phone? Or I did not make myself clear.. the tablet must accept sim to make moble call.

Thank you!
