The voigtlander 12mm will be a true 12mm and smallest one as well :) hope no purple fringing though like nex7

Thats what might happen.
That was aps-c and this is larger.
To me the native lenses are not wide enough or really fast wrt those typical focal lengths and its not slower due to size either.
So not sure if the cast on edges will be resolved

Lets wait for user reports

love the small body, but this cam does not have built in IS?

Gee.. you're wrong : ) All my G cams never had a limit. G2, Gh2, GF3, GH3 I could shoot until the card is full using AVCHD.

Ooops ... I am glad I was wrong ... :)

Okay, please tell me the GX7 and the E-M1 also have no such limit ! (currently deciding between these two)

Thanks

Lol.. I dont have the Gx7.. but if any bro here can test or zan82 can give an answer....i strongly suspect it can as Panny doesnt cripple the video function in Singapore

I watched thecamerastore video.. the A7/A7r doesnt have IBIS. It depends on Lens IS in the sony new FE mount lenses. For some primes (e.g. 35mm/2.8) no Stabilization.

internet going crazy over the A7/7r..

having placed a pre-order for the E-M1..
i must say i am tempted esp when the body alone price for E-M1 is close to the A7 body only price..

my past experience with Sony Nex is the lens quality..
m4/3 has matured and has many quality primes (which is what i use most of the time..).. 45mm, 20mm and not forgetting the 75mm..
Sony til now (if my memory serves me right) has very few quality primes with CZ24mm F1.8 probably being the best..

if the primes and AF are as good as Olympus's then eventually i may go into the FE system..
but probably not yet..

Zeiss 55/1.8 @ USD 1100 !!!! But.. ya.. Full Frame mirrorless @ USD 1700 ! OMG ! And Sony does video as good as Panasonic... This camera going to be hard to resist.. but the lenses are damn ex and huge compared to m4/3... wow GAS/BBB virus..

the CZ24mm F1.8 was a pretty long lens..
and IMO it doesn't quite live up to the CZ name..

with FF sensor it's inevitable that the lens are big..

even the Fuji APS-C sized sensor lens are big (compared to m4/3)..
just look at the 14mm f2.8.. fantastic lens but big..
the new 23mm f1.4 is also quite big..

each brand/system has it advantages and disadvantages..
at the moment for me it will be m4/3..

not forgetting Fuji launching X-E2 soon too..
but i think it will not be as exciting as the Sony..

Samyang announced 5 primes for e mount. Thats should create more interest for these new cam.

F4 vs F2.8. Light gathering the same. DOF different. So you can argue that you should be looking at FF 24-70 2.8. That would be huge :)

But I know where you guys are coming from. Will wait and see

Yup. It's inevitable that they're different (we're comparing apples & oranges ;p), but my guess is not by much. In fact, f/4 on the sony would provide more options/control as f/2.8 on m43 will be similar to f/5.6 on the ff.

This is a really cool development though, can't wait to see how the rest of the industry reacts.

For m4/3 shooters who own more than one lens the switch to Sony RX10 is even more compelling than the switch to A7/A7R. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOx0KfbmZTY

The RX10's kinda a very un-RX release to me. Great f2.8 across the whole range up till 280mm but size & design wise , it's quite the odd ball in the RX family. A plus is the built in EVF though.

I'll wait for the reviews about it but I'm guessing most people will prob go for either the RX100M2 or an interchangeable lens model.

That escalated quickly ;)

There's a lot of excitement about the Sony but I'll wait for more reviews and samples. There's too much info around but mind sharing how much is the RRP for A7r with the FE24-70/4 ? Thank u.

Not at usd 1300!

If I wanted a constant aperture zoom at 2.8 that's reasonably priced, I'll rather go for the fz200
Sensor size of the RX10 is more than four times bigger than the FZ200.
These two cameras are not in the same league.
Compare GH3 with 1.3" vs RX10's 1" sensor.
Compare total cost of ownership of GH3 + 12-35mmf2.8 + 35-100mm f2.8 (effectively RX10's 24-200mm)
Compare professional features like zebra, focus peaking, built-in ND filter.

Bro.. Think you are missing the point. GH3 is an interchangable lens camera.. I can use 12/2 or 25/0.95 or use the panny 100-300 or even 7-14. The RX10 cannot do that. You are stuck with 24-200! For that inflexibility at USD 1300 is missing the boat. Even a Fz200 cost less than 50% of the Rx10 and can go to 600mm !! IMHO, the RX10 is very very niche

As far as I know the Limit is imposed by EU tax laws.. So for us in Singapore, i dont think so.. anyone here a Sony user can help confirm?
It's not really imposed. Sony simply isn't willing to pay a few more € tax.

29 minutes. any more than that, it's in camcorder class. it won't be designated a

*3 Motion images can be recorded continuously for up to 29 min 59 sec in European PAL areas.

so are you using NTSC?

but that's quite good. negates the need to have a camcorder.
