Sunscaping

Excellent exposure and capture of the colours. Effective and suitable borders also. Must have made waking up early worth it.

Yes definitely, the joy of capturing first light far outweighs the sleepiness and lethargy that ensue heh. Thanks for dropping by ahbian, your compliments means much :)

Thanks so much for that awesome piece of advice Thomas :) It's just so great that you guys (like yourself and Yapster) are always willing to lend a helping hand to the us newbies. Totally appreciate it :)

And yes, the weather in Singapore has been cranky the past few weeks but the cloud formations at dawn/dusk have been pretty fantastic. You are away? Im actually looking forward to more of your reservoir sunset shots dude ;)

No worries mate. This is what the forums for, sharing!

Yep, been away from SG lately and away from my camera though am back in SG.

Just trying to find my modjo back on hitting the shutter again....finding inspiration from u guys....

Cheers and keep up the good work..

Haha yes pls do find your mojo back, alot of us are eagerly awaiting more of your mojo revelations on the forums :D and as always, thanks for the encouragement Thomas.

At this early hour there are no kayakers to disrupt the water surface.. On a good windless day you can get some pretty decent reflections.

Mirage

nice reflections, did you use any filter here? or blending?

something to take note other than what thomas (soulfly) mentioned.. as a general rule of thumb, reflections of anything.. should at the very least be as bright as the thing they are reflecting. in this case, the sky. here, in this particular picture, it appears that the reflection is brighter than the sky.

Twilight City

if you wait for a while more for the light to die down, there will be an optimal point where the lights of the city will balance out with the lights of the sky. then you just need a gnd to make sure that the water isn't too dark. :)

looks like there is vertical distortion here. you seem to possess a UWA, you didn't use it here?

hey nm thanks for the input :)

#17 was taken with a cpl, no gnd. think i did blending on this.. yah on hindsight i think the reflection is brighter esp towards the bottom half of the pic hmm. thanks for the headsup.

haha okay shall try to find the optimal point next time for dusk cityscaping.. by balancing out the lights of the sky, do you mean machiam the city lights have almost the same intensity as the sky lights?

and yes verticals are killing me in pp. im always amazed at how all your archi shots turn out straight and clean. this was actually taken on sig10-20.. cropped it. hmm i'm gonna upload another shot of the cityline next, hopefully with added emphasis on solving the vertical distortion problem.

anyway once again, thanks for the advice :)

using a spirit level helps, but i don't bring it out all the time.. basically if you're using the sigma, you can zoom in to 20mm to check if everything is level, relatively.. then in post, the adjustments should be minor.

adjustment wise, you can check out my article in articles&guides, there is extensive detailing on how to handle all of that. :)

any vertical distortion/wonky lines?

with tides at a low this weekend, was at east coast this morning looking for shallow rocks at sea. found this band of small ones at the longkang near macs.

I like #11 #13 #17 !
Congrats! Well captured!

i thought #25 would be better as a square crop, closer up, excluding the sun area.

Hope it helps and thanks to Bro Yapster to teach me this too...

haha, didn't know I was mentioned here. I kinda miss out this thread as I was on a 3 weeks reservist when it started. Kinda revived with your latest post.

Good stuff you have here, divingnemo!

I'm getting rusty(just dumped all my latest shots taken at Pandan Reservoir with the newly build structure.) and it's very inspiring to see nice works here.

We share here, not compete here and we make mistakes too.:bsmilie:

Your output is your own hard work and effort and willingness to accept comments from more experienced and knowledgable shooters (for example, that guy who say sg is beautiful.:bsmilie: joking, wk.).

So, enjoy your harvest. :D

i think this is pretty good..

thanks Numnumball for dropping by, glad you liked it :) if i had a chance though i would revisit it and try to frame it more outwards towards the sea..

Just leave it as it is. This is beautiful shot and nicely compose...
