I do not recommend going to 3x.
To retain good IQ, 1.4x and 1.7x is as far as I would go.
I have a 2x but that is something my dad had for a long time, a previous version of the Kenko telecon.
Only 3x have no AF. The rest can AF on AF-D

I have and used the Kenko Pro 300 2X for the 80-200mm.. work fine (if you can handle 2-stop drop).. AF unless you are in low-light condition.wah 3X ?? isnt going to have alot of lose of light?
