For 2nd hand copy without warranty, 700 is way way too high. Around 600 and below is fair deal. Since without warranty is most probably old version, need to get the lens re-chipped. No more warranty, need to pay to get it done.

it's interesting how like our parents we can look... dunno if it's psychological or not (the brain MAKES the 2 images look alike maybe? ).
I recently saw a photo of my dad in his early teens, and I think I looked very much like him when I was in my early teens as well...

No bro. for metering. Older versions when mated to newer bodies, will underexpose constantly when using the newer 3D matrix metering. I noticed it also when testing an older (but mint) copy on my D300s.

It is reported to be the same for Canon mount...
