[SunChasersSG] Newbies Outing (Part 22) - Sunrise @ The Promontory (Photo)

ok thanks for that! I get it now! :D
There's a BIT more space to the left of the 'pomelo' (I call it 'lotus'), but it's getting dangerously close to Ritz Carlton already. Probably One Fullerton or the old Customs House would provide a better vantage point.

the new photo seems fine enough in comparison...?

jacobs walked from promonotory to one fullerton to take the same view? :dunno:

Kit, n86m & NNB,

How about this enhancement picture compare with previous picture?

looks better for me.

My guess is, the original was cropped as well... so he recropped it once again to recompose... :)

Sorry for off-thread (didn't make it to outing due to SUPER HOT demand).. But wonder if there is C & C on this MBS angle (shot at Clifford Pier)?

Will a Sunrise shot of MBS 6mths from now be better? since the initial sunrays(brightness) will then be on left side of MBS (lotus/museum/pomelo).. and this brightness will add as a slight visual balance to the whole picture?

Don't know if it's our fault or not...
Definitely not mine la... it's you guys with the big-a$$ Lee holders and slot-in filters!
Maybe next week we'll see a lot of people asking more about gearheads and PC-E lenses! :o

Not me hor. I think soulfly started it all. I think. ;)

And I have been using slot in filters since my d40x days.

Sorry for not submitting my work.

Currently under WIA status .... Wounded in Action. Once revert back to Normal status, will post it, cos they are still in the camera!

On another note, I'm beginning to see a few people who can start relieving the seniors and helping the seniors to continue the series.

Cheers all! Let's not let the Sun go down on US!

I hope so too ... but meanwhile, am enjoying the sponge bath given by the beautiful young and nubile nurses here ... hehehehe. Now this is called life, just hope Mrs don't walk into the room at the wrong time ... while they sponge me down!

Wah Albert, only one shot and it is a good one..:thumbsup:.
Have to learn a lot from you. One question: What caused the water not to have a full cottony surface but with mirror streaks especially at the MBS shoreline and the reflection of the 3 towers? The reflection of the pomelo looks cottony though. Any way to shoot with the water surface 100% cottony?
Cheers all.

A lot depends on the conditions. The less the wind, the less the the waves, the better the reflections. That morning the wind is sting causing strong fast waves, that is why I put on the nd8 to get a much longer exposure. That will smoothen the waves but you cannot get a mirror like reflection compared to still waters. Landscape shooting is very dependent on the weather gods ;)

I went back to the Promontory on Saturday evening and tried out another long exposure with AWB. Turned out it gave a duplex tones instead of the usual warm shades you get with the ND110. I blended 2 shots to extract more cloud details.
