Hi,

Just want to check with RF-ers here, on your experience with this lens. A LFI article from 2004 had good things to say about it, so did a Hove collectors' guidebook (7th edition) Thanks for the feedback in advance.

Better still if you can share pics shot with it. :)

If I'm not wrong it was the reference 50mm lens before Lux50Asph came out.
The V3 & 50jahre have same optical formula if I'm not wrong. My 50mm "Accumulation" journey started with the Cron50mm!;)

Friend, appreciate your response and your taking the trouble to show these, also I must say that I do like the effect/mood of this lens.

Yes Boss, the 2004 LFI article spoke of the Summicron, alongside the Summilux and the Noctilux. Yes, they spoke about it as the "reference" lens at the beginning. The Summicron is one of the classic Leica lenses, going by the various reviews I have come across so far.

That's why MUST have! I have various versions except the last cos same optically with the V3 (chrome) & 50 jahre!
The 50 jahre, modern optic with rigid look.

The economists have gotten it all wrong, there is no such thing as diminishing marginal utility for certain things. :bsmilie:

need to brush up on econs concepts...

for a f/2 lens, this is about as good as it gets. unfortunately, many (if not most) users eventually move on to faster lenses of the likes of f/1.4 or f/1 (or similar).

lots of talk and pics on the comparison to the zeiss planar and the hexanon.

i deliberately did not say which f/2 lens was used... although, those who are familiar with flickr would know...

definitely an increasing marginal utility. the anomalies of economics ;)

Ace shot ben. I like the mood

thanks mel.

My greatest love and the only reason for me to use Leica is b&w. Leica lens for b&w always very special.

My harddisk died.. Hahaha  Hope seagate can save my 3 years of pics.

But managed to find one more summicron 50mm f2 pic.
