Went down to CP today to look at camera bags but couldn't decide on one (maybe I didn't look hard enuff). Can someone suggest a camera bag that achieves the following?

Able to store:
- S602Z with lens adapter attached
- 1 flash (moderate size?)
- 1 converter (wide or tele)
- filters (with their cases)
- 2 sets of extra battery (8 x AA)

Preferably the bag should be a waist pouch with shoulder strap option or vice versa (i.e., shoulder bag with waist pouch option).

Anything else I should take note of for a camera bag? This would be the first time I ever bought one, so do guide me on what I should look out for. Thanks!

Hi

That Crumpler Weenie is a bit too big for that set up. I suggest a Lowepro S&F100. Cheaper and smaller than the Crumpler Weenie. But the Crumpler can be used as a messenger bag after taking out the inserts. So if yiu have intention to get a Crumpler Messenger bag...then get the Weenie.

I hope this help in some ways.

darkness u r asking in fact what i want to ask! ;p

just wonder how much the Crumpler Weenie and LowerPro S & F 100 cost? :)

Get one with plenty of adjustable compartments that you can change to fit your camera snugly... but do leave some extra room for "future expansion"... A good camera bag should have room for you to grow as a photographer (and as an equipment collector :D )

Thanks midnight for the tips! I dunno if I would be expanding much beyond what I have (or intend to have), unless I move on to something totally different from my S602Z. But I'll bear your advice in mind!

Actually I find that crumpler bags looks really good, but the price is way too expensive. My g/f saw those bags and she exclaimed "these are fashion bags, not camera bags!!", to which I really agree. :p

I supposed these bags you guys mention are available in CP huh? So list of bags to look out for:
- Crumpler Weenie
- Lowepro S&F Reporter 100 AW
- Lowerpro Nova 1?? (comments on this?)

As a additional note, I prefer not to spend more than $50 on this... :embrass:

Sorry to tag along, but wat about a bag juz nice enough to hold the camera with lens adaptor. Kinda of sick of wiping the dust everytime i screw the adaptor on and want it to fit in my standard sling.

The S&F Reporter 100 is more than $100 if I'm not wrong....

The Nova series are all good shoulder sling bags, very comfortable. I have a Nova 4 myself, though I think that's a lot bigger than what you have in mind.

Which reminds me, you might want to measure the dimensions of your equipment and compare them against the specifications listed at the various manufacturers' web sites, eg. http://www.lowepro.com/

The S&F Reporter 100 abt $80+-
The S&F Reporter 200 abt $100+-

I recommend the S&F Reporter 200 ...

Well, the Crumpler Weenie cost $135.

Another "bag" you can try is a belt pack.
The Lowepro sideline shooter.

Quite good and comfy, and it can squeeze in my:

S602Z with the lense adapter
Ext flash unit
3 sets of batteries (12 pieces)
2 +4 filters

I only got the Weenie because i needed more space and the fact that it can be used as an "outing" bag. :)

Go get an equote from Cathay..

Then with the equote.. bring everything you wanted to be held by the bag down..

It will be better to leave some room for a water bottle and cleaning equipments.

I may get the S&F Reporter 200 too.... but no stocks from the last equote I got.

Actually I spend my own money lah, not hers... :D :D

(Don't worry, no offense taken!)

Megaweb, I'm only using a S602Z leh, don't think I need an expensive or big bag right??

Wolfgang, I've seen the sideline shooter. IT'S HUGE!! I think I can put in TWO S602Z with plenty of space to spare... :p

Don't think so...;p
You better bring your 602 w/tube and phyiscally stick it into the bag and see. Add a big flash like the 285HV and a wide or tele and it would be a tight squeeze.

You don't want it to be too tight or you would have difficulty accessing the camera.

Really?? Hmm... I'm going down to CP anyway this evening. Maybe I will take a closer look and see how. ;) Becoz physically, it's really very big, the width can wrap around my waist liao (one side lah, of coz!). Dunno how spacious it is inside though (didn't open up to see).

Bring your camera there to confirm. I've tried it before...not THAT spacious.:)

I don't think the Sideline Shooter is that big, but I think that'll depend on whether you prefer to store the camera lying lengthwise, or facing upwards. I guess if it's the latter, you might find that it's a bit more space than you need right now... but as I said before, a good camera bag should have space for future equipment, and I think something about the size of the Sideline Shooter makes a pretty reasonable carry-it-everywhere camera bag. Try putting all your equipment into an actual case to see for yourself before making the final decision.
