The news is for United Kingdom (UK)..., why you all talk like as if Singapore is affected?
Because Singapore is highly exposed to UK.
What happens there will happen here.
There is no escape except escaping from here. :bsmilie:

Currently SUBWAY® Restaurants in Singapore are not HALAL certified. Every segment of the market in Singapore is important to us and eventually we hope to have our menu items available to everyone. At this point in time, due to various market, regulatory and business issues, we are not able to move forward with obtaining HALAL certification but do be assured that we will communicate about its availability to the public once it is obtained.
Not all Muslim are so strict in their diet... Alot of my friends will eat as long as NO pork or lard... But the restaurant certainly isn't Halal.
The restaurant is halal, the popcorn chicken they served is not. Whatever that means. What's the fuss when the restaurant has a clear not-halal sign.
Ok, but there was no need to explode and shout abuse at the customer. Just tell the customer that (pork) bacon is not available in this restaurant. That is all.
That KFC was in Sydney. The employee was just taking advantage of others using his religion as a pretext to behave in this way.

He could have just referred the customer's request to another fellow colleague among the KFC staff, to handle that bacon request.
In this case, his religion happened to be Islam. But any other lout can behave in similar fashion using any other religion as a pretext. I do not see moderate Muslims behave this way in Singapore or Malaysia.

By the way, there is such a thing as halal turkey bacon.

Just think along the line that if you are a CEO of Subway Singapore and the HALAL certification affects only 2% of your market.![]()
i would suggest you grow your own food and be self subsistent.
Virtually anything in the world now contains some man made chemicals.
Even growing your own food will not eliminate them, only minimize.
