[stuck] S'pore!

Hi, nice shot for #43 and #44 . The rock texture are very well exposed and you go deep and close enough and I really like it. Quite strong color cast and magenta is obvious. There are a few ways you can tone down in photoshop. Some will like it as what fibredrive said. For me I always use the BC filter and for quite along time now and I don't have this color cast problem most of the time. I love rocks and maybe we can go shoot sometime after my exam. :)

You must have been standing quite far out in the water with #44? I actually like the color cast btw!

It looks like quite far out but actually the water was still way below the knee. Thanks to the low tide, otherwise this shot would not have been possible. I do agree that the color cast can work sometimes to give boring skies some colour (like this morning in #44). But most of the time it just looks plain wrong like in #43! *sigh* i guess that's why people shell out for Lee filters.

thanks for dropping by again! :)

Thanks for the feedback Manita! I love some of the wonderfully textured rocks we have in Changi & Punggol hence I like to shoot most of the time with my tripod right next the rocks! ;p What is a BC filter? pardon me as my PS skills are really crap - only know how to use layers for exposure blending basically! haha

I would love to go shoot with you someday... drop me a PM when u're more free! cheers! :)

:bsmilie: so sorry... BC filter is actually Black Card. I use this most or all the time for my sunrise or sunset shoot.
For PS, if you use it all the time, you will sure improve.
OK will PM you after exams. :)

#44 is nice ...
BTW, stuck, I have got a question, since you are already using a ND filter for long exposure, why do you stack a GND? Wouldn't the ND 110 give a nice uniform exposure (skies and the rocks) throughout?
Sorry for the noob question as I have not got a ND to play with yet.

always happy to help another Pentaxian out xtunbox ;)

but seriously ND filters like the ND110 reduces light reaching the sensor evenly throughout the frame, while GNDs only block light in a selected portion of the frame (the darker part of the filter). hence, in a situation whereby the sky is much brighter than the foreground (eg. during sunrise/sunset) a GND is still needed to balance out the exposure whether you have a ND filter on already or not. hope this helps! :)

thanks for visiting!

Thanks Simon! The purple cast certainly worked this time cos the sky was so boring... haha I love changi beach! perhaps more so than Punggol becos of all the interesting rocks they have of all shapes & sizes. The Punggol rocks are strangely uniform in shape - most of them are roundish - makes me think sometimes if they were planted there! :bsmilie: That's why I always stalk other people's threads for cool interesting rock locations - edutilos seems to always find new & interesting ones at familiar locations though

thanks for dropping by again... hope to bump into you again someday!

#43 & #44 are  personally I prefer #44 better. if only the secondary rock can be just below the horizon line and the 2 distracting house out of the frame, it would be even better but that's just me. good work!

Thanks for the comments Brownboots! Good point abt the rock merging into the horizon... didn't notice it till now! having said that I don think I could have done anything abt that, short of buying a monster tripod taller than me of course! ;p I actually think the houses on the shore help to balance the bottom heavy composition a bit.. but I can see how they can be distracting to some.

great work by the way with your Europe thread... I'm greeeen with ENVY! wish I had the time & resources to make that trip... for now stalking your thread for more great photos will do just fine! cheers! :)

Sick of the poor weather the past few days... decided to try my luck at Changi Beach again. SUPER LOW tide!

Hi fibredrive! was wondering if you guys were CS members but didn't ask. haha thanks for the compliments. had a lot of trouble composing this morning... at least managed to get some half decent ones. can't wait to see what you made of it this morning! *stalker alert* ;p

Yo bro stuck , I was also at changi beach this morn . But another side . In the end I met Stefan there. Regonise him thru his tripod and the strap u ask him at his thread . Together with a 7d , I suspect is him and walk over to intro myself . Lucky he didn't say who are "supersimon" lol haha.

Like Yr 46 foreground . The area we shoot this morning was something different . Not so much of the rock . Will try to process the photo by tonight :)

Thanks for dropping by again Simon. I keep revisiting this spot cos everytime I go the tide throws up something different & I never seem to get a nice & clear sunrise :(

love to see your photos soon! *camping* ;)

I was actually headed down to CP6, but waited for a cab for 30 minutes and none stopped. Back to bed for me. It's becoming a common occurence these days (I think I only manage to get a cab half the time), maybe I should just give up sunrises altogether until I can afford a car. :bsmilie:

Lol . We almost got a cs landscaper gathering at changi beach sia . Ha

One more this morning from the former Bidadari Cemetery. Heard a strange pecking sound when I was composing this shot... realised belatedly that there was a woodpecker having breakfast! One of the few times I wished I had a second body attached to a telephoto.
