[stuck] S'pore!

Most tiring shot yet. Literally squatted there for half an hr trying to catch the perfect wave! ;p Note to self: bring a field chair next time!

An interesting shoot with an old friend that I haven't seen in a long time. Something completely different from what I normally shoot.

Nice images, especially the beach ones. I can understand your thought process behind each of them as there is a tinge of similarities in our style of shooting beaches. Keep up the good work!

Nice shot... I like the composition and the tones too. Very well exposed on the rocks...Nitpick - would crop the top about 1cm. just me...
Thanks for sharing...:)

That's a good point! didn't notice the dead space above till u mentioned it. thanks!

Heard so much abt this place.. finally get the chance to shoot here. Nearly went to the wrong carpark! Disappointingly the tide was still to high... composing was an absolute nightmare with a near empty beach. Some of the less embarassing shots from this morning.

As usual any C&C will be greatly appreciated!

Glad they work for you BrownBoots! Been quietly stalking your European thread ;p Lately I've been trying to find new ways of composing as I've been getting too predictable... any comments to help me improve will be greatly appreciated! cheers!

were you at lower seletar this morning? Think I saw you there. you were standing at the edge between the 2 platforms? nice one btw!

Yes that was me! So sorry if i was blocking you... i tend to camp out at one spot waiting for the right light. It didn't really work out the way I thought it would though! Thanks for dropping by! :)

What are the settings you use? was it something like F16, ISO 200, speed 1min

did u use a half filter or whole filter? meaning GND on top and transparant below...

nice pics

Thanks! the photo you talked abt was taken using a 3-stop GND i think...

the cheapest way to get some ND filters would be to use square filters (+filter holder of course) from Tianya. I got a ND8 (3-stops), a GND, the filter holder & 77mm ring adaptor (to attach the holder to my Sigma 10-20) for ~$50 i think. But be warned that tianya filters are far from neutral (very strong magenta cast sometimes)... the price is much more palatable though! In comparison, a single GND from Hitech (which are of better quality) can cost twice that already. Do some research on ND filters on the forum first before buying so you get the stuff u need! good luck! :)

I think u're still not sure what exactly a GND filter is. Check here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graduated_neutral_density_filter

The settings were 10mm, f11, 3s X 9 (multiexposure mode). The exact settings will vary depending on the lighting conditions on the day itself & the GND you use. cheers!

It was my first time there too! Don't think i'll be going back there anytime soon though... too long a drive. say hi next time... probably the only pentax user there! ;)

thanks. multiexposure? so need to do a HDR after that?

multiexposure mode was used to effectively lengthen the exposure (exposure was averaged out in cam) - the exact details of how to use the multiexposure mode which I'm sure can also be found in your D300s can be found in your manual. The GND was used to even out the exposure of the sky with the dimer foreground (the rocks), no HDR was done.

Some shots from Changi Point this morning during the low-tide. The sun was MIA behind some huge clouds. Still learning how to correct the colour cast from stacking my ND110 with a GND. Cheers!

You must have been standing quite far out in the water with #44? I actually like the color cast btw!
