The plastic twist on/off lens hood for my 24-85 has become very stiff.
Any suggestions on how to "grease" this so it goes on and off smoothely?

Everything is clean and well maintained (not broken or worn).
I was on holidays for a few weeks an took this lens. So there was lots of putting the hood on an off. After a while it just became very tight/stiff and hard to get on an off.

It just seems that the plastic on the hood is binding on the plastic grooves on the lens barrel.

There should be no change at all unless the grooves of the hood and the lens are misaligned... I think what has happened is that in your haste to mount the hood, maybe u cut the threads of the hood.

agreed. take a closer look at the threading. can't imagine how this can happen otherwise except for mishandling. unless the hood was subjected to high heat that warped it.. :bsmilie:
I have this issue when I bought this lens new from CP. Never bother to fix it .. in my opinion, a snugly fitted hood is better than a loosely fitted one.

It is not a major issue.
I just prefer to have the hood going on smoothely.
I want try some graphite grease to see if that eases it up.
Anyone know where to get this in Sg?
