Thanks for making me smile tooStereobox said:good, good! that's the response i'm going for![]()
sometimes we are just too obsessed trying to read too deeply into something.. non existent.
i know my post isn't exactly very 'smart' and provoking, but i'm glad at least someone appreciates it![]()
Stereobox said:a bit of correction here if i may ....
i didn't exactly mean it as 'discover'. somehow, i associate the word 'discover' as something already fixed there,exists...maybe hidden.
i would prefer the word 'develop' which i used. after all, cliche as this might sounds, we 'learn' more and more as we go along (dont confuse with 'pace' of learning). example, our 'style' might change along the way, sometimes drastically. and what we used to like, we hate at the present. what we used to hate in the past, we gain new insight, etc.
developing 'photographic sense' to me is like a baby learning new words. the more we experience, the more we learn, the more words we can use to express ourselves, and ultimately, hopefully, develop a 'personality' - most importantly, ... your own personal sense of aesthetics. or even learn a totally new language. of course, a baby can also learn foul language :bsmilie:
in that case, we can treat stuff like, for example, Clubsnap, as our playschool/kindergarten/primary school/university
 keep it up honey. i like your attitude
adding my own 2 cents again:
some say copy is the best form of compliment. but when one copies a 'work of master'... what are we really copying? the visual style? technique? but can we truly copy the master's development the way he/she did?
but 'copying' can be like , (pardon my baby analogy again) .. a baby learning after his/her parents. so no real shame in that either, as long its taken in the right spirit.
Stereobox said:honey..shall i post links to the old pics u have done before, to illustrate how 'far and fast' you have developed within the past few months? ;p
lol joke joke
Stereobox said::hammer:
'kaoz' is shortform for 'wah kaoz' la .. also can be used as 'wah lau' (er..what's the meaning of wah lau ah?)
i think zhang3feng talking about the thread talk itself la  got XXX stuffs meh?

And as in 'already there', yes I believe it's already there. I believe human born with certain potential to adore beauty, certain humanity, certain existing things that - yeah - hidden somewhere inside ready to dig in.
I believe everyone born with certain talent and potential - it just how they want to make a full use of it.
I believe everyone has a sense of art - it just how far they want to bring this appreciation.
I believe that human born with heart.

Stereobox said:there's some element of truth when you quoted "The way to improve is to shoot and shoot, read, talk to people, travel."
the more you see, experience...you will start to 'develop' your own photographic sense. for some, it will come fast (like in AZhou's), some takes time and some take forever (like me).

Stereobox said:more specifically, i wasn't talking about finding out/discovering that everyone has a certain 'potential/talent'. i was talking more about 'developing' one's own photographic 'sense'.
as in, as we go along, the things we experience, feel, the people around us, the books we read, the pictures we see (and many other factors) will shape and affect the way we view the world around us, and that will in turn affect the way we do photography. i'm suggesting one way of giving more priority to the development process is to
i partially agree with Chris Lim's quote. and i also gave one example - AZhou - who has, within the space of a few months, 'develop' a photographic sense (which is undoubtedly still evolving) when a few months earlier, there was little or almost none focus on.
that's what i meant bah. i sound like some ahpek ahpek
Stereobox said:bingo!
like i mentioned above, my post wasn't exactly very smart or provoking...so i recognise the eventuality that somebody will 'get it'
it wasn't intended to be 'incomprehensible' in the first place.
the theme for the week is "Obsession" (thanks honey, for coming up with such a pulling-hair-out theme  )
my post was a reaction to the theme itself. i chose "obsession for reading too much into a picture".
i was abit hesistant when asked to 'explain' what my post meant, as it meant totally missing the point. its akin to asking 'Silence' to say its name..(i really like that riddle hehe)
"What you are looking at is what you are looking at"
exactly!
you see..moire..and you see...moire. nothing more, nothing less. i needed a 'vehicle' to carry across the 'concept' and i chose 'photograph'. you can call it a literal 'screen shot' bah. nothing is 'enhanced', touched-up. moire is inherent. "what you see is what you see" (i like that quote..wonder who said that) except resized to fit into CS regulations bah
AngelZhou said:I get the idea. What you see is what you see. The basic visual without any further interpretation? I just dont think this is the best way to put it.
But perhaps that's just me.
AngelZhou said:Sorry honey I seldom support you :embrass:
AngelZhou said:Anyway I dont think it's conceptual at all anyway ( as what you told me )
1. Yes, here the execution is less important than your 'idea' of what is that BUT
2. This ( again ) already done before and you even quite sure about it - when in another hand originality is the key of conceptual idealogy.

AngelZhou said:I feel so sick now too T____T but no money to go doctor = no MC = must go school lol
Eh, in any case you decided not to go doctor, I bought medicine yesterday at NTUC Health i can share wif you if you want. My sorethroat not as bad as yesterday but I still got this stupid fever n cold T____T *frustating*
AngelZhou said:*FINISH OT*
Apart from my negative tone, I love the way you explore somehow. As someone who lazy to discover new stuff ( thing about me dun want to learn flash cuz very comfortable wif HTML or me dun wan to try documentary / event pix cuz i already feel happy wif what i am ) I really envy you for keep on trying new stuff.
Sometimes I feel I set a limitation on myself to certain thing i'm satisfied with. I mean... I might love to take event pix or enjoy doing animation, who knows? I will never know if i never try. But somehow I juz dun bother to try.
Sometimes I feel that I only look at things on one perspective.
I just dont bother to try new stuff.
I remember I told you, "You never took initiative!" now thinking about it again, sorry honey, I think i'm the one who never took initiative and lazy.
