Launch

2 Image DRI using ND 0.6 hard grad + Lee Big Stopper for smoothed water and cloud effects. East Coast Park, Singapore.

Only can be seen when the tide is low. Had alot of noise and grain however.... Can't seem to find a way to remove grain. I didn't brighten the image either.

hi mind if i ask,

this picture, you took it with the filters stacked together or u took the 2 images w 2 separate filters and u stitched it up digitally?
and mind sharing this is near which part of ecp??

thanks in advance :)

Thanks Alan!! :D

No I stacked the filters together. No worries, these filters are rock solid glass, and there won't any noticeable quality loss. ;) That shot in ECP is near the Jumbo Seafood and Red House Restaurant. :) The pipe is in a good iconic location in ECP though. :)

Back to good ol' Kranji Beach... :)

Finally finished going through all the pages.
I love this series very much.
Thanks to TS for sharing it out. :)

Thanks Kayel. :) I appreciate your effort running though all pages and I'm glad I managed to keep your attention. :) Hahah.

Still camping here! Nice series, learnt a lot through your sharing, keep it coming!

Hi,

All your picture are really nice and I love it!

Hmm, I got a question to ask you! I should buy Lee Big Stopper or Hoya NDX 400!

Hi Sing Liang!

The Lee big Stopper is a good investment for real long exposures. The NDX 400 IS good too. But it doesn't feel like a 9 stop filter. It was almost like a 7 stop filter. What seems to surprise me was, the Lee seems to exhibit a bluish colour cast tint on my images. But it can be solved by pushing the colour temperature to 7000K and above to achieve the exact colour as on scene. The lee is all about convenience and time. You don't have to remove the ring adapter and holder just to screw on the 77mm Hoya then put it back altogether again... ;)

In short, I'd say BOTH are good for image quality, and more or less give the exact colour on scene with little colour casting. But for colour rendition, I'd go with the Hoya. For extremely long exposures, B&W photography and convenience, I'd go with the Lee. Price wise, Hoya is $120 from tkfoto. The Big Stopper is a wooping $200.

Ultimately, just make sure you're shooting in RAW, so that'll be easier to fix minor colour casting and its much easier converting it to B&W.

Thanks, I think I just start with Hoya NDX 400 as I'm quite new and also Big stopper cost!!

No issues Sing Liang, take your time to decide and purchase what is right for you. :)

Something from Sembawang again. I'm probably gonna head there different times of the year and randomly see what I will get. :)

Two Sides to Immensity

9 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.6 hard + Tiffen ND 1.2 for smoothed cloud effects, Sembawang Stateland, Singapore.

Went there again as I figured there might be fog and water reflections on the tracks due to the heavy downpour the night before. The Sky didn't startup too well either due to December rains; the sky and its environment was really dark and it was as though it will rain some more when I was there. I then took advantage of its dark and surreal surroundings. Could've been better.

At least, thank God for the subtle twilight skies highlighted on the clouds for a short period of time...

EDIT: Decided to uncrop the bottom and fixed saturation issue. The new image seem to add depth and symmetry to what I want to convey.

Thanks for proving that one can capture beautiful land and cityscapes in Singapore. Inspiring!

Very awe inspiring work. Thanks for the behind scenes and sharing your wonderful work1 Keep shooting.

Cheers

Thanks everyone! :D Singapore itself has alot of undiscovered places. Or maybe they were "discovered" but no one seems to notice them or the angle of beauty. ;) Enjoy!

Another behind the scenes shot!! Some have PMed me about the location of this weird looking pipe, it is near the long beach restaurant, red house and Jumbo @ East Coast Park. :) Turn to your left, you won't miss it.
