Like the appearance of the sun "pushing" the clouds away..

Same ol' Story

2 Image HDR/DRI, 3 image vertorama to relief foreground tightness using GND 0.9 soft. Toa Payoh, Singapore.

Shot this in March but I was quite sceptical to upload this, as I had countless shots of Toa Payoh and this like, the 6th or 7th different view of TPY I have explored and shot. And I hate boring photos.

Time to stir up something new. I hate to bore the audience the same ol' thing over and over again.

I'll never get bored of your thread though. Glad to see your post again :)

good stuff as usual bro. it's never the same ol story cos the light is always different. :)

Indeed a young and talented photographer with so huge collection. Excellent shots. Glad to meet you last weekend.

Anyway... Ubin time!

The Rays of Ubin

2 Image HDR/DRI, 3 image vertorama using GND 0.9 soft. Pulau Ubin, Singapore.

Many thanks for Victor, Alfred and friends for this awesome outing to Ubin. Indeed, my second trip to Ubin since 1st January 2013.

When I reached the area I realised finding a good composition was a challenge here. I tried to explore around and come up with something interesting. Not much luck unfortunately; I just didn't want to waste the opportunity of travelling all the way to Ubin and not getting a shot worth. Moreover, the rays weren't to my advantage and the sun's position wasn't much desired from where we were. But, I've decided to push on; I had to work with what I can work with. I loved the environment though, because of the rays I guess everything seem to glow hue of magenta and pink.

The rays didn't last long too. Initial plans were to use a 6 stop filter to smooth out the water but I didn't have much ample time to set everything up and observed the rays were slightly disappearing. A decision had to be made whether or not to use the 6 stop filter otherwise there won't be enough time to capture it. I forgo it and went with f/11 instead.

Truthfully, this is a rather average shot in my opinion. Hope to go there again next time when the sun's right.

UPDATE: Removed dust spots at bottom.

Have not seen your work for quite sometime and *Rays of Ubin* is beautifully captured and a fine composition.. Maybe is time to loose that framing/border concept...but again this is personal preference.Have a good weekend...

Thanks Manita, hope to bump into you sometime soon. :)

The Force Between

2 Image HDR/DRI using GND 0.9 soft + Haida 6 stop filter for smoothed water effects. Pulau Ubin, Singapore.

Last simple one from the series. I have many more shot, but they were just for future angles next time when the sun's in the right position. As said, this place requires certain exploration before getting it right.

Really like The Rays of Ubin. It's a pity the sunrise didn't result in more colours (The Force Between) like the pre-sunrise.

Hopefully next time the sky would be much better, and also better compositions. :bsmilie: Thanks mate. :)

Over The Borders & Far Away

2 Image HDR/DRI, 3 Image Vertorama using GND 0.9 soft + Haida 10 stop filter for smoothed water effects. Lorong Halus, Singapore.

Ever since I journeyed to Lorong Halus sometime ago I've always wanted to capture this POV after certain exploration; I finally did it. It was an awesome sunrise that morning as I finally attained the freedom to shoot and relax with me and my camera by the sunrise I doted so much, and now's the time.

I was really worried about the visual balance and heaviness on the left side in this POV, hopefully it doesn't intrude much.

Boring Crap

2 Image HDR/DRI, 2 Image vertorama using GND 0.6 hard + Haida 10 stop filter for smoothed cloud and water effects. Upper Seletar Reservoir, Singapore.

Shot sometime in March, I intentionally shot this as a live demonstration for a friend, who wanted to see my shooting workflow on site. We were here for a morning jog, and brought my gears along just in case of a sunrise. Turns out it was cloudy. More specifically he asked about this particular 10 stop filter that he wanted to see. I couldn't think of anywhere else but here - this jetty that has been shot over a thousand times by thousands of shooters. I shot this scene just to demo what a 10 stop filter does to moving objects such as the water and sky and showed the results on my liveview. I initially had the intention to delete the images, however I threw them all to my computer back home and didn't bother with them since.

It was not until recently he wished to know my post-processing workflow of the same scene – sure I said. So he sat beside me and I showed him how it's done. So, here it is.

UPDATE: Removed 2 dust spots.

like how you always manage not to go nuts on the saturation. something I am still trying to work on in my own processing!

Just gotta keep a fine balance when doing it! :) Thanks man.

Gosh I wished I would've moved a little closer to rid that ugly pipe at the foreground... What was I thinking when I shot this.

Heaven On Earth

2 Image HDR/DRi using GND 0.6 hard + ND 0.9 for smoothed water effects. Pasir Ris Park, Singapore.

It has been a while since I stepped here. The sun was rising and the sunrays exploded. I gotta admit, it was a challenge to compose this scene, as the actual environment appears way much darker than this and the Cumulonimbus cloud created visual heaviness on the right. I overexposed it in hopes to lift away the illusion of visual heaviness and it seemed to work.

It was in fact, the actual visual narrative I had in mind when I stepped here and saw the sun rays - the feeling was heavenly. Hence it was essential that I should put my thoughts of this place in a photograph.

PS, was expecting the tide to be a tittle higher to cover those pipes at the foreground. Distracting if you'd ask me. Too bad, just gotta work with what I have in front of me... Would definitely come back here ASAP when the tide is just right.

Mess Pipes

2 Image HDR/DRI, 2 Image Vertorama using GND 0.9 soft. Pasir Ris, Park, Singapore.

Was hesitant to process this, but just did it anyway. Once again I just wish the tide was a little bit higher, and the foreground wouldn't appear a little messy. Nonetheless, great awesome outing indeed. More importantly I enjoyed myself.

Bishan Valley

2 Image HDR/DRI, 6x2 Image Verto+Pano using GND 0.9 soft. Bishan Park, Singapore.

Finished a jog and went up to one of the flats one evening only to discover such an awesome view. I just wished the sun would be much optimal to the right. If I had known about this view earlier, and I would've went there. Next time then. :)

UPDATE: Fixed overall proportion of buildings.

UPDATE II: Fixed contrast of distant buildings.

Nice one, I've always wondered about the view when shooting from Teck Ghee Vista side. You carry your camera and tripod when jogging?

awesome shot for "Red Letter Day" (Reprocessed).

hey Stefan, great journey and images... so beautiful! what gear (body/lens) use mostly?..

thanks
