Starting a (short) Filmmaking Hobbyist Club?

Hi guys, we will be having TWO meeting this saturday.

One in the afternoon 2.30pm-4pm @ fstop cafe.

The other in the evening (time and location - tbc)

We will be talking about several pre-production issues that is needed to be settled.
And we will have about 1 hour of casual chit-chat and talk about cast and crew roles that still needs to be filled up.

I urge you everyone to come down and at the very least chill.. bring along your demo reels.. namecards.. and some excitment. heh =)

This weekend afternoon meet's agenda as follows..

- going thru the story/script
- DOP's department proposal and basic storyboarding
- followed by talking about location and casting
- talk about each different department's 'wishlist'
- money and sponsors
- drafting up a production schedule
- obtaining personal infomation of the crew to write a short bio for everyone
- taking some photos

Hi guys, just to update all you guys..

We did metup and had a good meeting...
seven people turn up.. we had an open talk about the story/plot before we dived into production manpower and logistics issues..

But I felt that we spend too little time joking or ranting nonsense.. we need to improve on this.. and of couse for those of you that could not make it, come on the next one!


There are afew positions which needs to be filled up..
1) Driver (Prob van or bigger)
2) Videographer (To cover behind the scenes and make a video at the end of the shoot, full credits go to you)
3) Sound design and music composer (For post-production)
4) Food sponsors (Anyone can cook? )
5) Still photographers (To cover on set & behind the scenes.. prob make a "making of photobook/blog" full credits go to you)

Hi guys, alittle update, we got the script up.
Dealing with sponsors within the next 2-3 weeks, if anyone wanna help in anyway please let me know!


Our total budget for this film may be up to 7k. Your contributions will make a difference, this shoot is going to happen even if we only have $1000 or even $500.


You could contribute in several ways...

Be part of the production team - increase the efficency and professionalism of the entire production

Be part of the casting team - help us reduce the budget set aside for hiring big time actors...

Sponsorship/Management of Equipment - We urgently need lighting kits. Of cos sound equip/camera system would help alot to reduce rents.

Be an Executive Producer - Help sponsor a huge part of the production.

Though it may sound like a big professionial highly funded production - it is not. We still need help, fundings, an extra arm, leg, wheel.. and even cameras(n lights)


So erm haha call me out for coffee anytime. =)

Hi everyone,

I am wondering if this club is still on-going? I am a self-taught Autodesk Maya technical artist. I am hoping to get involved in 3D visual effects kind of stuffs to spice up the short films. I cannot do complicated kind of stuffs la, however I am willing to experiment and try out stuffs. ;p

Hi mEc.The club thing kind of got overtaken by events, and morphed into hobbes' short film project Toll. It started off great but got stuck recently due to the director getting confined to camp. Not sure why, but I think anybody named David with an unhealthy passion for firearms is a bit suspect right now.

Hi!
I'm still free, not charged with anything.. And I believe my records still pretty clean with the ISD.. hahs.

Our shortfilm(Most of the main crew are ClubSnap members) is coming out fine.. and yes it's kinda delayed due to some security and fiancial issues. (Waiting for a permit to blowup a car)

But on the bright side, we manage to shoot 85% of the show and we'r right now scheduling for the last shoot.

We also manage to get MDA to fund afew thousands into the film but I'm still dangerously low on funds as I havent even started into Post Production (Which will be pretty hardcore and brain-frying.)
