I'm dying in school. Student council campaigning is bleeding my free time out of me

How's the meetup and the progress of the club going on ? I am very interested in doing short film and have produce some to take part in some film festival.
I definitely welcome the idea of forming this club as it is necessary to tap on every individuals talents to get the thing going, if not it will mean throwing in a lot of money as a single producer.
I feel that we need to firstly identify the area of individual expertise in this club by firstly filling up these position named below.
1) Screenplay Writer: The very first step in any filmmaking process.
2) Director / Producer (maybe specify expertise in which genre: comedy, documentary, thriller, action etc.): Storyboarding, producing & directing actors
3) DOP(Director of photography) :Videocam operator with good technical knowledge on operating and using the various functions available in pro cams if not, at least a 3ccd semipro cams. And have good sense of visuals &compositions.
4) Soundman : In charge of field audio recording and mixing. Preferably have access to a recording studio for voice-over recording if needed.
5) Lighting crew : For a more professional looking visual. And setting the lighting condition to our advantage.
6) Assistant Producer: In assisting the director, planning shoot schedules, arranging location and managing artiste.
7) Actors & Models: It will be good to have them in our club as it would mean saving a lot of $ on the pros.
8) Editor: The final person to pump out the show
9) Music / sound effects Composer: A must have if we want to be free from those royalty legal issues. However we could make use of royalty free music & scores but it would definitely not sound as good as composed ones.
If we have members in all this positions , I think its really possible to kick off the production with eveyone contributing. Of course we don't talk about money here , we talk about producing the film with our individual expertise supported by others.
In Singapore, its quite diificult unless you are Jack Neo who can get a lot of sponsors and have big network and strong backup.
Personally, I am into Director/Producer/DOP/Editor role.

I've become really busy with school lately though, as I've been running for student council, and have been really swamped with work. David (hobbes) should take up any questions regarding the running of the club in the interim

I just ORDed last month...have been a freelance TV scriptwriter for the past 2 years. I've written for Living with Lydia and a telemovie and a couple of other shows on Vasantham Central. I got these gigs coz my feature script won the 3rd prize in MDA's National Scriptwriting Competition in 2003.
I'm going on a backpacking trip in a couple of weeks but I'll be back in June. I've got a short film slated for production in July/August. I've got a producer and an editor already, but if any of you guys wanna help out, you're very welcome : )

Thats great, just wondering in what way am I able to contribute for your coming production. have a PD150 sony camcorder, basic lighting kits (1 redhead), 1 consumer wireless mike (ATR55). If you have any other problems in any area. let me know and maybe I can source out within my network.

The synopsis has been finalised, now we are hammering the script into place.
Within the coming weeks the production team will initiate correspondence with potential sponsors.. followed by a casting call..
We'll see how it'll turn out to be over the next few weeks before we determine when to commence this production in full swing..
In the meanwhile YES. We still need vital crew members.
The Production team needs PR guys.
The Creative team need a graffer, sound design. and gosh I have no editor yet.
In addtion to that, the production will be needing ALOT of additional help on set during the acutal shooting day.. logistics, manpower, resouces managment, media coverage and pretty much alot of stuff... (Will update this later on)

Meanwhile alittle on the plot...
The short will be about 10-15min long about a moralisitic struggle two leaders from two different fractions each tinged with malice and schdenfreude. And in this story it will be a feud between a Police Chief and a Triad boss.
A production that will take you out of the typical heartland shortfilms and art-flick you've seen on screens and in competitions.
A shortfilm about action, backstabing twists, sarcifice and values..

This short film making sounds interesting. I did my last short film about "Bullying in School" like 4 years ago in the States with a couple of classmates. It was fun and shot all on simple handheld DV cams.
