yep, was sitting on the concrete walkways. prefer lower perspective in general for shooting things from a distance, eg for this soccer match or cycling...

....another workshop coming up this weekend for those who signed up...plus International actions coming up in the coming months. such as FINA swimmimng meet and World Netball Championship.......

.....been away in Adelaide for the last few days, am at the airport waiting to board the plane back to Singapore, too bad the Adelaide V8 racecar meet only starts as I am about to leave.

V8 action is crazzzzzzzy... especially the long distance races (barbegallo 500)?

OMG, she is beautiful, I should have attended the workshop and start taking up sports photography. hahaha
BTW you need a faster shutter speed. Her fingers have motion blur. What did you learn at the workshop?

So those who attended will get priority the next time the workshops are held?

Just a thought, are the participants allowed to use their own gear or must use the equipment supplied by Nikon?

Seems like the responses are good for the workshops!

Hope no repeat where there were ppl who didn't turn up when they signed up for the upcoming workshop, really deprive those who are really interested and cannot attend cause it's full.

Looking forward to any upcoming ones!

Participants are allowed to use their own equipments, in fact Russel was using Canon, Nikon loan out at least 1 set per group of 4s in the last workshop. I am not sure what are the plans in the future workshop, but do voice your wishes as SSC people are also monitoring the thread....e.g. access to real games/matches as part of the workshop itinery....mentoring with advance shooters etc?

Not to worry, if you are really interested in sports photography...quite a number of events and tournaments coming up soon.

eg, This year sure have lots and lots of runs.

I myself am working on accreditation for the events.

I missed the final session as I was not feeling well, gave up my place to someone who's fit to shoot that day

...pity you missed it.....it was an interesting session with Jeremy who offered some insight into how an image agency works....maybe next time.....went to the Inter school relay at Bt Gombak right after the workshop.....but SPH was not very pro-non-sph-photogs.....was not given permission to shoot, restricted to the grand-stand only initially, but saw another photog at the far end of the stadium who seemed a bit young to be a SPH photog..so tried my luck to move there.....was not told to move off so continued shooting without any interference.....currently images being uploaded on my flickr...

The way i see it...the workshop was pretty good just that some of the participants not very pro-active.

1) Came late.
2) Didnt bring laptop so those groups with only one laptop were in a rush to pick photos for critic session.
3) Didnt take note which photos would be worth remembering by recording the photo number on paper/device.
4) Dont expect all photographers to have a CF card reader.

Jeremy`s talk of being kiasu early for an event makes a lot of sense.
