Space Battleship Yamato

Caught the movie during preview period some time back and was impressed with the beginning part but thought the ending was bit too draggy and long.

caught the movie a few days back...i'd say it's for fanboys who watched the original anime. definitely not new guys. plot wise as per movie...there's some pretty big plot holes. even within the movie setting itself, it's a bit illogical. my biggest beef with the movie is, right from the start, yuki is shown as a tough girl, and first in line to fight. but near the end of the movie, she becomes one big helpless heap of tear stricken bimbo...what gives? what, suddenly she donno how to handle a gun? sigh...

but the effects, the space battles, and the uber cool ships......there's not enuf 'like' button for me to click. :D

This is movie based on 1979-80 anime Uuchu Senkan Yamato (spelling may off), it was one of the best anime story wise back than. The movie is Sh!t it combines two story lines into one ,Quest for Iscandar and Farewell to space Battleship Yamato into almost 3 hrs movie really no character development and only CGI is good.

"Space Battleship Yamato debuted at number 1 on the Japanese box-office, ousting Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1).

Zac Bertschy of the Anime News Network rated the film a B, calling it "a thoroughly modernized adaptation, one that hits the gas pedal right out of the gate and doesn't stop for a moment, unashamed to just try and entertain the hell out of you."

and nice song btw ;)

Watched the movie yeaterday. The CG effects are good but the conversation draggy. I think it is the Japanese style for movie.
This makes me wonder if there is adult version of MACROSS, :p

Watched yesterday. Effect is good, but story line twisted bit from the original...but overall is done quite well...the last few scenes bit suppose to be quite serious but the whole cinema just cant hold and burst out some laughter...^_^||| those who watch I think can get what I mean...

I only collect its animation DVDs. :bsmilie:

I would prefer the movie based on MARCOSS PLUS story. I like the dogfight for that series. One of the best.

paiseh paiseh...

there is no spoiler involved. not critical ones, unless what i wrote is considered a spoiler versus a characterization generalization. in any case, i apologize if i unintentionally gave the whole movie away.

lot's of movies seems to do this...japanese movies tend to do this....like a whole lot of times.

Watched the movie and agree that the plot is very much compressed, leaving many big gaps. CG-wise, I am not really impressed. But the parts where the crew sacrifice themselves in order to attain the ultimate goal is pretty moving. Satou is the man!
