Sony Zeiss FE24-70/F

Kit lens also has distortion like the zeiss in the raw files, but corrected quite nicely in jpg. IQ at ctr wise, not as gd as zeiss. I have used the kit lens for a day of shoot, IQ at ctr so so, not noticeable if u dun zoom in. No time to try out the zeiss, but from the reviews, it looks slightly better than the kit.

Actually, the kit lenses are gong for about $250 in the used market i see...super worth the money...it's 4x cheaper than this zeiss and if you just need a travel zoom..definately go for the kit over this..this is not worth the price if you can't justify paying for it.

At this price bro can complaint much :) true if you just need for travel this is good lens. Cheap and good

Yes, price for a brand new mint set of the 28-70FE from A7 kit is about $250 or lower, depending on when it was bought.

Good enough for general use, though corners are quite a lot worse than 24-70f4.

Nothing much to complain though at the price of $250.

Thinking of getting either FE zoom or a sel zoom in crop mode for upcoming trip. Main lens will be the 55mm so not too sure if i still want the 35mm prime. What you guys think? First time travelling ever since I got into this hobby so not too sure what focal length are suitable for travel photography.

for travel definitely a zoom..get the kit..so cheap..no need think twice..you got the cash get the zeiss...

tested further sal2470z with ea4 on a7r. the light loss coupled with no OSS makes taking sharp photos quite challenging in low light. AF is still quite good though.

ok..so i know i'm going to get some hate for this.
But..I DID do a test with the 2470 and i went to buy the FE55 as well since it is soo highly talked about and compared these 2 lenses.
I'm talking about ideal conditions here in a proper studio environment...not walkabouts or street shooting..because i really have no clue how to shoot street.
Here's my 2 cents worth.
In the studio, shooting at ISO100 and F11 on BOTH lenses at almost identical 55mm range, when at home doing post production...i can say i cannot tell the 2 lenses apart. both had images that were identical to one another...and i'm zooming in and viewing on a macbook retina...

So in a studio, the 2470 is as good as the 55..with the choice of a zoom capability so to me...if you're a wedding photographer inside a studio doing shoot..and you never shoot below f11 because you use strobes...then this lens is on par with the 55. So again..i'm rooting for this lens..i still think it will surprise me even more..i was totally expecting the FE55 to trash this lens when i got home to review..but it didn't

Perhaps you could test out the kit lens as well. Some reviews mentioned that it is very sharp as well at F8-F11.

I got a feeling that you cannot see a difference as well with the kit, at the studio condition you are using.

unfortunately I don't own the kit zoom to test. but I can say in the studio. . The 35,55 and 2470 are identical at f11. I huess as long as the glass is able to resolve the 36mp..It's all down to the sensor more than the lens.

I did not find it at that price :(

Most sold set are around $250-$300, but there are sellers not in a hurry to sell so will still be asking for around $350. Keep a look out at the BNS. There will be mint set sold below $350 all the time.

If you are looking for brand new set, there are shops at Funan who will sell the kit lens separately too.

No complaints for a zoom lens at this price, though you need to close the aperture quite a bit to get the best results, especially if you need to use it on a A7R.

At wide open, the 24-70F4 is a lot sharper than the kit lens.
