Hi,

I am very tempted to get a Sony Vaio laptop VGN-FE45G/W model.

So far, a friend told me that her both her relatives' sony vaios died in less than a year...not sure if it is really that fragile?

Any feedback from users of Sony Vaio laptops will be very useful.

thanks for your time.

cheers.

Very chio. Very fragile. Very overpriced.

The ones made in Japan are nothing short of awesome. As for the cheaper ones made in China, QC is still an issue.

Pay top dollar, very chio, very tough (supposedly on paper), very good specs..

VERY EXPENSIVE, most importantly.

a lot of newscasters used them on TV , must be good

i "had" one! Paid a pricy of $2799 (four years ago) and after 2 years the LCD Screen spoilt.

Took to Sony service centre, paid $60 to check and

wah hooo.... they quoted me $1200 to repair the screen......(must fly Laptop to Japan and fly back)

I almost stopped breathing..!!! (must well fly me there better!)

now the laptop is collecting dust somewhere...

Buy a MacBook Pro better...

News reader got it changed daily. Free.

over priced lappys for sure...got to change every 2 years..

Eh?

Meh, I get bored of my laptop after a few months anyway. Try to change it every year or so.

EDIT: In fact I threw my Vaio into a drain once, but it still worked so I guess I'm stuck with it for awhile yet.

is it true that it overheats easily?

Why get something grossly overpriced? Might as well get yourself another camera.

why threw into a drain?

I got one, very good workhorse. Depends on how you view overpriced.
It's targetted at same target group as Mac. For designers, video editors and musicians.

Did you notice that it comes with original Photoshop Elements, Premeire Pro Limited Ed and Sonic Sound studio? I think all these are better than those supplied by other laptops. How much do they cost? I reckon they cost a few hundred dollars. Maybe ard >$400? or more?

So looking at that, I think it's quite well priced. But now, the new series look nice but... performance wise average. Only the top end ones are powerhouse but too pricey.

Heard that the C series are using better quality LCD. Harder. It's not the soft type. Hope you know what I mean. This is told to me by someone working in Toshiba developing LCD

But then, might as well consider Asus cos it makes Vaio motherboards :)

last time i had one sony monitor, bought during NS time, until now, think more than 10 years, still working fine  ... dunno about notebook. maybe sony products are durable? my wife sony 14" tv lasted more than 10 years. she watched it daily at her home, then now she brought it into our new home, we watched at our study room, still haven't spoilt...
