Yes, you're right, after 3 weeks of shooting SFF, I have to admit the AF of the SONY is causing me to miss several cruical shots, as it was slow in "locking on" the subject.

The lack of a buffer to take photos as fast as my finger can squeeze the shutter is also a downside.

Another negative thing about the 717 is perhaps the lack of TTL flash even with the SONY HVL-F1000.

The flash just won't sense the amount of light of the subject and control the intensity of the flash.

But still, it is overall a good performer once you are aware of the "flaws" and work around them.

Should be a good "practise" camera prior to a DSLR.

newuser: Very true.. I've used the Sony and had gotten a hang of it by working around the problems. I've learnt alot from this cam over the past months as a posed to my Film SLR which I had for a couple of years. Film makes it little more difficult on the wallet to learn fast.

Hence, I'm moving on to DSLR now...

Yep. Sony Mem Stick Pro 256/512/1GB is available from CP.
256 costs S$230 excl GST.
1GB cost abt S$900...

I just bought from there, they never mentioned anything to me. :dunno:
I got my F717 for $1.35k with gst there.. is it expensive ? They quoted me $1.38k with gst.
Btw, whats the difference between the normal ms stick with the ms pro besides bigger in capacity ?

I'm not sure abt the rest of the memory sticks but I know the MS 256 MB is simply 2 compartments of 128 MB in one MS (meaning you have to take out the MS and switch "drive") whereas the MS Pro 256MB is 256 MB in one compartment so saves you the trouble of switching.

The white colour Memory Stick Pro that comes in 256mb capacity and above (512mb and 1gb) are as what mattie mentioned.
They are also faster then the normal blue mem sticks.

I got my F717 a few weeks ago @ CP @ S$1280 w/o GST.
AP quoted me S$1260 w/o GST but I still prefer CP.

Oic.. the guy there quoted me $1380 with GST. Only after I told him it was selling $1300 somewhere else then he finally give me a price of $1350 with gst. :angry:

Also I am having some problem with the focusing which I not sure if it is normal, I tried to take a pic of an object at a distance of about 40cm away. I tried to zoom in to the max 5x optical zoom, the image is blur even with auto focus or manual focus. Only when I reduce the zoom, then the image is clear.

this is called, RTFM :kok:

the minimum focusing distance of the 717 at full zoom is 90cm
