Sony RX10 Pictures

Thanks for sharing the RX10 photos. It has helped me to get a good feel of the capability of this camera.
Was initially impressed by the Sony RX10 when I tried it in the show room. Big zoom range Zeiss lens ƒ2∙8 constant.
However, when I checked the photos shared here, I realise that something is seriously missing in the results from what the RX10 can do.
This is a reflection solely on the RX10 camera as a product, not the owners/photographers who have so kindly shared the photos here.
The RX10 photos have no life. They are flat and dead. To be fair, cannot expect too much from a 24mm to 200mm zoom.
I think there are too many trade-offs in the design. For the price SRP $1,600, you can get much better camera + lens combinations elsewhere.

e.g. I think the Sony RX100 (model 1) is good. Or Olympus OM-D E-M5 + 25mm ƒ1∙8 is good.

Seriously, you said that you tested it yourself at the showroom, yet you are basing your judgement on photos posted by others. Why?

Not the photos IQ on small LCD. Just the operation.

Not sure if you are just referring to the images I posted. Most of it I used NFC to transfer to my HTC One, then upload to Photobucket. Not sure this has affected anything to the quality of the images. Also, I can't even call myself an amateur :D Mainly point & shoot, with a little tweaking with the ISO, appeture, exposure and spot metering. Paiseh, if my uploaded pics do not do any justification to the camera. Still learning how to optimise the camera's features. But one thing for sure when I took these photos..... I manage to take pics and go, less time taken, less meddling, and really enjoyed using it. Thanks for the feedback :)

Sharing some more pics.....

Tested out the rx10 at sony centre JP. I tried shooting at 1/50s with and without IS at the telephoto end. Seemed to yield the same (blurred) image. Wondering if the IS ain't that good enough (or spoilt for that display set) or am I subjecting the camera to too harsh an exposure condition...

1/50s with IS at 200m if shoot at still object. Surely it wouldn't be blurred. 200mm isn't consider telephotos for bridge cameras these days. AS for those who cant shoot sharp pictures at only 200mm 1/50, either camera faulty or you are a too shaky.

I can shoot sharp photos at 840mm 1/8s with IS on my Canon SX40, yeah 1/8 at 840mm standing. I tried with Fuji HS30, 720mm at 1/15 not a problem too, even with my older bridge cameras, including Minoltas at 200mm low shutters.

For merely 200mm, 1/50 for non moving objects is more than enough in my conclusion unless faulty cameras or the shooter himself.

I believe RX10 is an amazing camera taking into consideration they use the older Minolta IS technology which is as excellent comparable to canon's & Panasonic OIS.

Glad to see this thread come alive again somewhat, after a long hiatus. Looks like there are not many owners here. Just got my hands on a one-month old set from bns last month, and I must say it is a real joy to use! In fact I'm having more fun with it over my a7r. The review below sums it all up very nicely:

A quick snap just to share.

Hope this thread gets some life back again!

Had a little difficulty getting the proper white balance on a dark cloudy day.

Took these handheld, NFC to handphone and uploaded to photobucket.

nice shots! the oss really comes in handy in low light.

thanks! Its been a joy to use. Video is good too! Menu is a little challenging for me and the menu button is strangely on the left side. My main grouse is the lack of autolit buttons. While taking these shots, I keep fiddling with the wrong buttons when I need to change the setting.Too dark!

The versatility of Rx10 is really good.

A shot of one of my son's die cast collection.

It seems this camera does not have many owners and not popular here. Too bad as it's a really a good all-around camera.

Trying to revive a dying (if not dead) thread.
