Which shop? I asked click camera but only put down name but they din ask for deposit for reservation. Thanks.

It should be out tomorrow right? Dec 12.

:-) But it wouldn't be cheaper. Look at the EOS M; Sony and Fuji offer more for that money.

In these days of intense competition, with Sony, Oly, Panny and many others losing tonnes of money, they all really need to compete with innovative and saleable products. Seeing what Sony has done with the RX100 and the RX1, they can't be standing on the sidelines. With phone cameras getting better and better, sales of compact cameras without any major diff in IQ will be badly hit. They have to make compact cameras with a quantum leap in IQ, like the Sony RXes, or continue to face shrinking market share. Once they start to emulate Sony, it will be great days for all of us.

I was told tomorrow is official launch, but I don't know if stock will be in. Has anyone received word that they can collect by tomorrow?

I got a call to inform me that Singapore shops will get their stock tomorrow or the day after. Extremely limited quantities. Not sure about the accessories. Did not ask price as well.

One thing I really like about the RX1, even though I won't be buying it because of the price, is that it will wake up all the other manufacturers, and hopefully they will come up with something similar that is more affordable soon. For the time being, I'll stick with my RX100 and pretend it's an RX1, minus the two zeros.

Well, if you ever decide to buy the RX1 you will have a spare battery since it uses the same battery (NP-BX1) as the RX100.

For a full frame camera to use such a small and light battery is pretty impressive and if I am not mistaken it is rated at 300 shots. Very impressive. Add the BC-TRX battery charger and you are good to go.

Next to the "other" fullframe.

This picture is terribly poisonous. Didn't realize it's so compact even when compared against the leicas.

If it irks you then don't read la.

And yes we've seen enough of your posts to know well enough.

Anyway thanks zixaw, although you don't have 4700+ post to your name, your 1 post alone is much more useful than the useless Guru styled post of others

:o

i'm a Nazi.

before you make that statement, perhaps you should even know me and look at some of my other posts before determining that i'm not objective in my postings.

obviously no camera is perfect. and it's very obvious you bought the camera without knowing what it can do, or what you expected, according to your later posts. hence, i still stick by my statement of "you have no idea what you've bought".

Yes it is very small. Smaller than I thought it would be.

Slightly more than 3 years ago, I was in Japan looking to buy a Leica M9. When I asked the different shops, the most common reply I got was the X arms like Ultra Man with the sharp intake of breath followed by, "Sorry, no stock". When asked when there will be stock, there will be this weird laugh as if to say, "Not in your lifetime". I did get my M9 eventually after about 3 months. I thought I would never experience that again. WRONG. Just tried to locate a Japanese RX1 for a friend and I got the exact same response from Yodobashi, Bic Camera, Labi, Camera Naniwa etc. Looks like Sony has a real hit on their hands.

About battery power. Max I have shot in a day is about 150 shots (the battery BX1 is rated for 300 shots I think). The battery meter still shows as full. But that is deceiving. When I stick it into the charger (BC-TRX) at the end of the day, it shows only 1 bar out of 3. Charging is extremely fast with the external charger that you have to buy separately, about 2 hours from 1 bar to full.

EDITED to add. I expect battery reporting and battery life to get better as I put it through more charge/discharge cycles and things stabilize. At the moment the bit of discrepancy can probably be attributed to it being a brand new batt.

Please elaborate.

Agreed. If he wants to be a tattle tail and report naughty kids to the teacher he better be able to say what these naughty kids did. ;-)
