Does anyone have more info? I called up the shop at AMK and they mentioned that they don't have a clue when or how much. I dropped by at a Sony Style shop and was quoted RRP.
Coz its just a Sony? It's hell expensive. LOL. Google more on d reviews n seriously d price does justify itself.
All the bros who replied to my posts on the price and availability of the RX1, will you buy at RRP or even close to it or do you have some lobang for a good price? I own the X2 and still do, tried selling it but the way the resale value has dropped in less than a year makes me think twice about getting the RX1 at this price point. On the other hand, I used to own a one of a kind R1 from many years ago and still look forward to something similarly special from Sony, I wonder if the RX1 will be it. Still waiting for reviews on any forum for someone to bring up the R1 when discussing about the RX1. So for others who do not intend to buy the RX1 now or in the near future, please dun reply to my post hor cause your opinions don't quite count for me. :bsmilie:
Nah, I mean it's too expensive for me. I wouldn't come to this thread if I had judgement on the brand. In fact I like Sony cameras, I am using Sony NEX 5N now.
Made a few more calls today. It seems as if the camera will be on order basis and some shops have a rather long waiting list. Nobody seems to be selling lower than RRP. Availability is next week.
Here in Japan, the RX1 is sold out everywhere. Earliest date for next batch is mid January.
It is really a great camera. Anyone who says that it is too expensive really needs to put things in perspective. This is not your every day compact camera. Play around with another full frame camera and then compare with the RX1. You will see what the fuss is all about.

"So, was it worth it?
I will, perhaps, catch some flack for this, but my answer would a most definitive YYes!.. I know, I know, Ivve literally had the RX1 for only 8-10 hours, but I really feel I can, already, without a doubt give nod to what Steve said- This camera just pumps out great looking images. And it does it so effortlessly. The JPEGss are simply amazing to me, I didntt even have to do anything in post, I found them aesthetically pleasing right out of the camera. Thatss a first for me- Not even the Fuji X100 did it this good, in my opinion. Too much enthusiasm? I dontt think so. Ivve longed for a camera that I could carry on me all day long, (that wasntt huge and intrusive, yet had full frame DSLR image quality and depth of field) come home, upload the pictures onto my PC and be done and happy with the results. This is that camera."
A few comments about the RX1. Not so much the camera itself but the accessories.
1. No battery charger is included in the box. Instead you get a USB charger that plugs into the RX1 to charge the battery.
2. EVF uses a different connector from the current Sony Nex 5N/R from what I can tell. Why not make it the same?
3. Thumb grip not well thought out. It blocks the Play button. The thumb grip swivels out to provide access but that's just bad implementation.
4. Using the thumb grip will prevent the use of the EVF.
5. The full case does not accommodate the hood, thumb grip, EVF, OVF etc
6. Camera strap included in the box is really poor quality.
7. Unlike the RX100 full case, the RX1 full case does not come with a strap.
8. EVF rubber eye cup is not fitted well. It does not sit well on the eye piece.
The camera itself is well made and feels good and solid BUT the packaging and accessories feel cheap (except for the OVF) and is poorly thought out.
then don't buy it. why get a camera just to complain about the accessories? the main thing is that YOUR CAMERA ALREADY WORKS AS IT SHOULD.
if you're not intending to get it, then the heck you're complaining about? let those who are intending to get it complain. sheesh.
