Hmm according what ive read so far. All mention its the same sensor. RX1 & A99. Thus im asking that question. Why no PDAF on RX1? i dontknow :bsmilie:

Ah Maybe Sony knows people will not use this camera to take sports?

It can also be interpreted as this camera is made for pros, and thus they will be able to utilize the hyperfocal markings on the lens to pre focus and zone focus. :)

There are actually pictures of RX1 with the evf and ovf mounted picture on the internet already.

erm. looks like there is some misunderstandings? I dont care if there is no PDAF on the RX1. Stop folks pls stop quoting me on that matter. lol. See post #128. I was asking about the sensor only.

Same thoughts. When I had the 5n with evf, I was very concerned abt the evf being caught in the straps. I Hope the evf in rx1 will be a fixed type. Hopefully it has a low profile and is small enough too. Else it will be a pain. Might as well get the ovf. The thumbs up grip is good to have but I don't see it as a must have

Just look at the product photos and you will know how it looks. ;-)

Lol . Point taken

The OVF combo look nicer. But got a feeling, most ppl will shoot from LCD. Looks just as great on its own. Sony RX1 will give Leica M9 a run for money.

Must wait till the proper reviews for the ovf comes out. I would imagine that the ovf would have some degrees of parallax error compared to the actual frame

It's just an OVF, there'll not be a review except that it's blardy bright (with excellent framelines probably 85% of the actual view) ... Basically the same as 15,21,25/28 OVFs for the Zeiss ZM system, except now a 35mm. You can get the Voigtlander one at probably a third of the price of the Zeiss one.

thanks for the info. If the voigtlander ones can work to a certain acceptable degree, would make sense to get them over the Zeiss. Would need to look through one to judge ultimately

There are a few units spotted around SG... The one I was able to molest had really very very very fast AF and was also totally silent... except for the AF noise! LOL

You mean pre-production models? :)

I think so. Was mostly foreign photogs from Australia. So I think they may be the "beta testers". Sony SG might have units too, but if someone (or maybe even a CS mod) is testing them locally I have no clue.

Okay, coz the announced release date is still in December. :) I'm surprised you said the AF is super fast because Sony just removed AF-C from photo mode.

AF-C has nothing to do with AF speed of the camera (other than fast AF being helpful for AF-C). Even in AF-S it's very fast. Plus Sony just changed it to "AF". So it may be equivalent to AF-A.

No, there won't be AF-A. At least not according to Sony's press release. Still mode will be AF-S only. http://www.sony.jp/cyber-shot/info2/20121002.html
