Sama sama lah...
Where is your 'useful' post?
Wow, Really? If that's the case then we can go on and on.. #600 very useful indeed.

If u even think before u did this. You could have thought that i wont post that (#599) if he didnt post that (#589). Think about it? Guess its people posting things like that to make threads so long with very little really helpful information. ;) alas, what to do. Forget it.

The hood is expensive. if can afford and dont mind the price, then can buy la. Leica hoods are damn ex too! Its all relative.
Question is, do u really need the hood?

Depends on the user I guess.

I almost never put on the lens cap except when traveling and the camera is in the bag so a filter and lens hood will help alot to keep the lens safe as well as to prevent finger prints and spit stains. Yes spit stains. I stood facing a friend talking to him for about 15 minutes and my at that time hoodless RX1 lens was covered in spots. LOL.

But a third party hood will do the same job if you are not worried about vignetting.

What do you do if you find dust on the sensor, you can't blow or clean it as the lens is not removable I suppose.

The chances of dust on the sensor is extremely limited since you can't remove the lens to let any in.

Test shot at town on Xmas day. I find that it produce great colours. OOC jpeg.

Great cam for street shooting. Small, stealth and silent.

I know but it depends on the QC in the manufacturing process. Nikon users of the new D600 have unpleasant experience. The sensor collects dusts even without changing lens, they blame it on QC problems.

The Nikon issue is from the Nikon shutter design. No link to the rx1

There are so many fixed lens cameras around with no issues and you choose to use an interchangeable lens DSLR and one of the only ones with a problem mirror/shutter/whatever as an example?

Practically speaking , few specs of small dust ( especially those found in the manufacturing environment ) would not impact the IQ. Unless the plant workers drop something organic on it , then GG .....

It's just a matter of time. Give it a few years and you will have dust inside.

too bad i wasn't in town then.

had asked few shops at funan and even at the airport, was sold out on the 24th and 26th.

Sony at wisma has available stock.

Any store in singapore allows testing?

Luckily got mine from Cathay Photo today. It feels great! It's actually even smaller than I thought. My initial expectation is something similar to fujifilm x100's size.

The UI is pretty professional, quite different from NEX series though. And dials and rings are definitely helpful when taking the photos.

Just a gentle reminder that if you are getting a filter for RX1, make sure that you test that whether the lens cap can be mounted on properly, as many normal or ultra-slim filters are still too thick for the cap sits on steadily.

The camera is still charging so I didn't manage to take many test shots and I have put some unboxing photos, first impressions and sample shots in my personal blog in case you are interested.
