I don't think the AF assist will fail here, no highlights and pretty diffuse lighting.

The image is corrected using lens profile Canon EF-S 10-22 through Lightroom and few adjustment. Focal length is on 18mm

Ragnarok95, your shots seem rather processed? Was that intentional? The colours are a little oversaturated... was wondering if it was intentional... also the focus seems a bit off? A bit soft overall I feel? Did you sharpen?
