SONY NEX users Thread

was busy before and during a lunch time affair so i was only able to call up the shops after 3pm... by that time all stocks were out for the 16mm or so they say...

the leather cover and pouch were not really attractive so i passed it up... what lenses have you tried so far on the adaptor?

The 16 mm was available when I was in the shop at about 2 pm. Well, wait for next week when the new stock arrive. As for the adaptor I No idea yet.

I intend to use it with the A-mount prime lens. :)

Got the adapter at IMM this evening , tried it on my old 18-70mm kit , at first its quite difficult cos the lens was very light , after mounting on the tripod plate attachment to the adapter , focus becomes much better , so far so gd , manual focusing isnt hard , just need some time to get used to it .Cheers

How much the adapter?

Its 299 , cant use the $300 , tried my luck heh

Good try. With SONY Style shop, not possible as the price is controlled. Maybe can get a small discount from the authorized shop like V3 in Sim Lim Square. Again, they will not get the stock as fast as SONY Style shop.

is it possible to use lens from sigma after buying the adapter? or i can only use the original sony alpha lens?

adaptor can use with A-mount lenses... no AF at this time though, both for sony or 3rd party lenses... manual focus via live view is rather easy, i imagine because of the higher res screen compared to the e-p1/gf1

one of the shops i called up just now told me, have stock for 16mm lens but cannot sell yet, only sell tomorrow... other shops say same, not yet launched while others say no stock anymore... is this typical of sony distribution? so funny

wit the adapter u can mount sigma alpha mount lenses...

within this month, wit rayqual(japan) or kipon(china) nex adapter, u can mount nikon, canon, leica, etc...

anyway... i've heard rumour tat sony will produce E mount 50mm primes

not forgetting novoflex from germany...

the 16mm is really more for wide angle shots. Even the 18-55 with a higher f stop still can get shots like that. But yes, the 50mm 1.8 is a good starting point :) but no AF

ytd... i sprayed the nex 5 18-55mm lens with len clean liquid.
think i sprayed too much and some of e liquid flow into the under side of the lens.
but heng it dried up.

so i think, in future, spray on the cloth first.

Seeking for advice:
I have no lens de. NEX 5 is my first dslr.
so should i get e 18-200mm for NEX5 or get a 3rd party adapter that can mount nikon lens?
or best, get both? lol.
I intend to have
18-55mm (current lens)
16mm pancake (due to the voucher, haven buy yet)
XX-200mm len (Advice as above)
Marco len (Think there's none E Mount Marco len yet. This is the reason y i consider getting 3rd party adapter).

TQ.

Hmm If its purely for marco, you can get a Raynox Closeup lens converter. N then wait for a dedicated Marcro lenses.

If u want to build up the Alpha lens, you can get the Alpha lens adapter , and buy a 50mm 2.8 Marco Alpha lens.

For third party adapter, unless you have existing Nikkor , Canon or other Manual focus lenses , I dont really see the benefits of getting it. Of course , it gives you a larger variety to choose from , but I think it adds up to not much cost savings , cos end of the day , each type of adapter can only mount one type of lens. So its the same as getting the alpha adapter.

PLus , getting back Alpha lens would allow u better assurance of compatibility, and we can pray they are able to add AF function later.

But having said that , if you do not have intentions to get a Alpha DSLR ( the NEX is really a premium PnS) , then maybe it make more sense to wait for the E-Mount lens roadup build up before diving into getting a adapter ba. I m sure Macro and other zooms and primes will be up soon for E-Mount.

I agree nex5 is not a dslr but a adv PnS. but in my heart, can change lens = dslr liao. LOL

i got nex5 bcoz i want to try photography but unsure whether i will like it or not.
thus get nex5, if i dun like or not gd in it, nex5 is still not too big to carry out and use as pns.

if i like photography, i will get mid to high range dslr which most prob not sony.
tat's y i am considering adapter for other brands lens.
unless they improve tremendously over a short period of 1yr.

based on your advice, i think i better wait... dun buy any more lens apart from the 16mm pancake.
for e mount 18-200mm lens, likely i will wait and go HK to buy.

TQ!!

Just got my 16mm f/2.8 lens from Parisilk Holland Village.
Those who are interested in getting the 16mm or 18-55mm but can't find them anywhere else have better hurry down to Parisilk.
They still have 1 set of each left. ;)

Hmm what sort of improvements are you hoping to see ? Or rather whic aspect u think the Alpha is lacking now ? Heh just curious , cos I thought the Nex is gd testament of the Alpha capabilities and strength
