sony sg srp is 1199 for the lens, not in yet though

HK still has the best price for lens, etc.

Noob here, playing with my macro. The camera will auto detect the lens and put the focus to manual, all the functions that are not able to work will be automatically greyed out.
ie Af/MF select , Autofocus Area / Mode , Smile/Face Detection

Playing with the manual focus was quite difficult as the mf assist hot key was at the bottom
making fine adjustments to the zoom 7.0x and 14.0x hard to reach.
The top hot key would be ideal to minimise shake and composure, flipping up the LCD also helps.

hey, I tried out NEX5 in ISETAN SONY STYLE,
when choose manual focus,
when turn the focus ring,
the LCD will auto magnified to check sharpness...
need to press any button to "MF assist hot key" meh? :dunno:

is it better to buy a 50mm f1.7 lens or get e 16mm kit lens?

what is the specific usuage for each lens?

basically.. 50/f1.7(apologies i mentioned as 50/f1.8 in my post earlier) is excellent lens for indoors/low light and quality of colours makes it a great all-rounder... :thumbsup:

CP never reserved for me, when I purchased the NEX-5 from them...they not sure when is the ETA.....

Can someone confirm its the LENS and not the camera+lens package that is available?
I called MSC and they said lenses will only come in Aug. I am looking to get my 16mm lens.

Just called Sony. Apparently they have some stock (i am talking about a few pieces in country!) but have instructed all their retailers and sony shop not to release it until the official release date....sigh...
Most of the shops I called kept on mentioning Aug..

was able to get oni batt and alpha adaptor

The nature of the lens, its a pancake lens design, which trades off some optical quality for size. If you want to travel really compact with the NEX5 use that lens.

Its too wide and soft for me to really like the lens though, I prefer the kit 18-55. Am waiting for the rumoured 30mm prime lens from Sony.

Hee... I called and reserve the 18-55 mm E-mount lens this morning and collected it in the afternoon with the S$300 voucher. Purchased the battery, wrap and alpha adaptor for manual focus lens only. Was thinking of the leather cover but dropped the idea as it will be cumberson when charging battery. The taking out and putting in will wear out the screw thread for the tripod prematurely.

Actually, you need to call and reserve the lens.

was busy before and during a lunch time affair so i was only able to call up the shops after 3pm... by that time all stocks were out for the 16mm or so they say...

the leather cover and pouch were not really attractive so i passed it up... what lenses have you tried so far on the adaptor?
