btw another note, there is also another IR model, which is 2 in 1, flash/light with IR lamp. never use tat b4, but saw in sony gallery.

I bought the Sony Infrared Illminator today at Mustafa @ $85 and happily went home to try on my F828.

The Sony accessories book have indicate that the LifoLITHIUM NP-FM50 battery or AA size batteries can also power the Illminator.
I try the NP-FM50 battery on it but found that it cannot fit into the Illminator.

After checking, to my disaster :cry: , I found that I have actually bought the WRONG MODEL.
Intially, I thought there is only one model for Sony Illminator.

The Illiminator which F828 have recommend is HVL-IRM, the model that Mustafa sell is HVL-IRC, and both look exactly the same:hammer:

Please remember to look at the model number carefully before your purchase.
Items may look alike and all black in color.

Actually what do u mean by it cannot use? the battery cannot fit? or that it cannot be connected to F828?

any of the IR lamps i suppose does not come with a trigger, as the base of the IRM is just a plastic square shape to fit into the hotshoe.

so the only thing is the battery, it uses some other battery than the FM series.

Yeah, thats what I know. Its just work like a spare IR torchlight for your camera. In that case the illuminator should work fine with F828.

It still can be use with F828.
But for the wrong model : HVL-IRC, I can only insert AA alkaline battery (last for one hour), while as the correct model HVL-IRM can also insert AA or NP-FM50 battery which can last for 3 hours.

Though it can be use, i would usually prefer to get the correct model for my F828.

Went to Mustafa today and the kind Indian salesmen agree for me to exhange for other items. :sweat: :sweat: :sweat:
Cool............. at last settle.

I call up Sony Singapore today about the HVL-IRM and they say I have to order from dealer, Radio Junction at Orchard Emrald.
The lady, Michelle, told me the stock will arrive within this 2 days and quote me $106 for HVL-IRM (no mistake this time)
Is the price ok? :think:
Any one wanna to buy too?

Sorry mate, I don't have a IRM. I have a e-voucher($20) from sony. But need to spend $120 from sony galleries or squares. Anyone interested can give it to you for no extra charges.
