Price wise, I guess its pretty sensitive lor. What I am being offerred may not be what they will be selling. So it will be better to contact the shops to get the necessary quote ba.

I bought 699 at comex. Mscolor quoted but no stock. Comex is definitely way overpriced but i was there, so just buy. Sometimes the flash will be out of sync with my a700 and result in an underexposed picture. But so far the metering in most conditions are ok.

Bro, if a shop gives a special price, don't post it here... Sony checks and shops get into trouble (happened to C already)

sony really knows how to earn money!
FF flash come out first before FF DSLR.
this surely makes more people buy the flash first.(since we had waited so long)
then comes the camera body. if the so call A900 come out first, i don't think
there will be so much people buying the flash compare to now. agree?

so, how much did you all buy the flash? why no body want to say?
how much is it?

Official price is 699. For unofficial pricing, ask the shops themselves or PM me. ;)

Oooooo... ok i understand already.

Hi All...Please Please refrain from posting prices of equipment given based on your personal qoutes or purchases.

This will avoid any problems with fellow CS users as I have been getting may complains of people mentioning prices.....crazy prices that was "obtained from CS postings".

To ensure that we maintain good support from shops, please only qoute official pricings here. Let bargain prices be a one to one deals by customers to the retailers.

Understand the logic, hope it'll be like HK in the future.... Market rate is 'published' which is all across the shop in a country. :)

Hard lar... non-pro shops in SLS, Lucky Plaza, Peninsular still provide such poor services... always try to 'carrot head' unsuspecting tourists and 'bully' less knowledgeable locals... tough... until we get professional service all over like the pro shops or large electronics stores, then may be we can have a market price published... SLS still having trouble with black-listed stores...

Actually not difficult, if every user post the price, nothing Sony can do... Similar situation in HK, everybody post, everybody knows what's the price, the stores sell at street price and write list price at invoice. What can be done? Will all shop be penalized?

What I'm trying to say is that market has power to influence situation. Isn't currently already bad for Sony Singapore that many buy from HK? How does it do any good to Local Sony, Local Shops, GST income?

It is a totally different story if there is no other way of getting an affordable prices, but the current situation just not as difficult. Those who read Michael Porter's book may recall about how substitute affect the bargaining power of a company. In this case, Sony products is being 'substitute' by the HK which carries the same warranty as local set.

Anyway, just my 2 cents...

We always hope that the price would be lower and that we can force the pricing to be fair... but it's really the seller's market at the moment where SONY is concerned... unless someone here can get imports that carry international warranty and sell them at a pricepoint that forces SONY shops to sell at a reasonable price... quite difficult... SONY has made it quite segmented in terms of warranty and this allows them to price-differentiate...

Sony imposes sanctions on shops that break it's pricing policy.

Hi Pals,

Based on current tests, to get the benefit of using all the flashes (36,42,56,58) in ratio, you need "THE" camera - with the 58 on camera as controller.....

Using A700, you could only support Ratio for the 58 & 42 flashes with 58 as controller on camera.

As for wireless using the pop up flashes - all the flashes are supported (36,42,56,58) per normal i.e without ration control.

Sounds logical enough, as the ratio control is done on the 58 flash itself, unless sony comes up with firmware that can set ratio from the camera, using the pop up flash to set ratio, i think is not possible.

does this mean the sony 56 cannot support ratio too?

Can support ratio....with "THE" body. This was based on the "supported cameras" notation in the user manual. And the "supported cameras" at this point has yet to be released...

Otherwise, the ratio control manually is still possible by power adjustments...but not ratio via the 58.
