Sony DSLT-A77 and 16-50 f/2.8 SSM hands-on review

Hope the A77/A65 does not have the same sensor overheating problem that the A33/A55 suffered from. And it would offer more control in video mode similar to what Canon offers.

Have you read the reviews out there? There is no overheating issue on the A77, and the A77 offers full manual video control, with focus peaking as well if you are using MF, effects, etc etc. It easily surpasses the Canons in video control.

Review on Sony 16-50mm DT F28 lens is out on SLR Gear.

http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/1449/cat/83

Looks very good indeed!
Very sharp at F2.8 for 16-35mm.
At 50mm, corner suffers at F2.8, but reach good levels at F4.

Generally, sharpness max out at F4 at all focal lengths.
Macro capability is lacking though, only 0.2x, 30cm.

Price is within sane levels.
Surprised they did not label this lens a "G" and raised the prices considering its optical performance.

Be glad they didn't! LOL

But in their video they did imply it was meant to be a cheaper yet superior competitor to the Tamron and Sigma models.

Maybe because it's a DT, not FF lens.

Sweet, haven't really read any in depth reviews of the A77 most of what I have read has been press releases.

Look forward to trying out the camera. :)

I guess nobody know how much its selling in SGD.. But its around 1999 USD (according to onlines sources).. for body + kit lens DT16-50.

Bro Rashkae, do you think that the mic may be prone to entry of elements? Does it have some sort of extra protection underneath the grille?

It's a weathersealed body. I think there's a membrane under there.

Hope there is. Thanks bro. It's all a matter time now. Can't wait for it to hit our shores.

Based on that its aim to cost lesser than 7D and D300s/400, judging from USD conversion rate and past A700 pricing, i would assumed SGP pricing to be (RRP):

A77 body: S$1899
A77 + 16-50: S$2699
16-50 lens only: S$1099

So street price would normally be 5-10% off.

And HK price another 20-30% off LOL

Got micro adjustment for critical AF?

Lens microadjustment? Yes. 100% live view magnification for manual focus override along with focus peaking? Yes. :)
