Thanks cpuer for the info. Bought the second last one available last nite. Someone else was buying the last one, and another lady was putting in a reservation. Biz looks good, and SLRR was also selling the x-e1 with the zoom kit like hot cakes.
The RX100 looks like a very sophisicated device and at first the interface looks daunting, but after playing awhile with it, even without looking at the manual, the device is quite user friendly. Very well designed, i must say.

I reserved one but last minute backed out. Was having an internal struggle, trying to justify why I need one new camera when my GRD3 is still working. I do know that RX100 is very much better in most areas against my aging GRD3. Anyway, congrats on your purchase. I will buy one RX100 series when my GRD3 gives up its ghost.
In that case, you better stay away from playing with one. The RX100 is quite addictive, with the many features and picture effects. The Illustration effect on high is amazing. However, i think I would like it just a little bit bigger.

Just got my set half an hour ago. As others above mentioned SLRR selling at 822 as part of the song days promo (GST absorb), however (as mentioned above again... They had 0 stocks left ): and promo will end on 28 nov ... In the end went about a few shops to check if any was having the Sony days promo (u have to ask), in the end got my set off Alan photo for a little higher than the price mention above. (was lazy to search anymore)

Anyway..for those still looking, there`s a new shop 2 doors away from SLR that is selling for $822 (cLick). I understand from them they just opened in funan last week. Their prices (for the few items i enquired) are as competive as slr and their service is really good (guess they are still new in funan). They are upfront with the sony day promo too (as with s lr& cp) without me having to ask.

Yup, I think that shop was opened by one of the guys from John 3:16. But it's a separate, independent shop.
Oh... they told me they were previously in chinatown and another place that i cant recall the name... i really enjoyed my experience there today (for the reason that i got to play with all the items i enquired - they offered to let me try without me asking. They have opened body and lens set for you to try and compare. Guess they are like Sony Wisma Atria). Heck, they even let me use their sdcard to take photos and i even compared the photos i took with different lenses on their imac!! U cant get that at sony wisma...
Coincidentally, i think john 3:16 had a refresh/re-opening of their shop??. New design and lotsa flowers bouquets etc...
Hmmm I might be thinking of a different one... The one I am talking about is a small shop inside the big mac accessories store.
Yups, think is a different shop. This one is quite spacious and you cant miss that imac facing you at the entrance (on the left). Think this is meant for customer's use for them to compare/etc (i.e., Lr3 came installed for you to use). I'm not sure where's big mac, this shop is on the left of slr.

Called up Parissilk Holland V, quote me $93x (w/16B). Alan $9xx, Cathy $8xx...Other than Click and SLRR, who else can you guys recommend for a good bargain?

Got mine on Friday! amazing and fun to use.. (i'm upgrading from a LX-3)
I purchased mine online via Kogan.. which it was sent to Australia.. where my dad then posted it to me here in Singapore.. Total costs including all postage and handling was roughly 800sgd..

Neither do i!! LOL.. but then again, we dont get things like "Black Friday"or "Cyber Monday"etc etc. Singapore has always been one of the more expensive places to get certain Sony products.
ps: but for the small price difference, aint it more worth it if you could have gotten a local set with a warranty? And, if anything was wrong with your set, the shipping costs back to them are usually borne by the customer.

The casing for RX1 is quite good. Recommend you to get it. You can use it as a half casing by detaching the hood cover. The gariz casing is pretty expensive, but if I am not mistaken, its advantage is, it allows u to change battery and remove cards without taking out the casing itself.
I ordered my hard plastic screen protector online . Theres an original hard plastic screen protector from Sony available as well, its at the stores where we buy cameras.
Batteries, I got original ones. Got it cheap in HK together with casing without buying the camera. Recommend you to get in HK if you or your friends are going over.
Battery chargers and third parties batteries, you can get from ebay. Shouldnt be an issue if you are using them as spares and charge them out of the camera unit.

The Gariz case for the RX100 does not allow you to access the battery or SD card compartment without removing the case. I didn't find out until after I bought it. Still, no regrets. I really like Gariz cases. I find the Sony case a bit bulky n makes the camera less pocketable vs the Gariz. Personal preference only as I've seen a number of positive comments about the Sony case too.
I bought the Gariz half leather case for $99 from HN Funan where they carry a wide selection of accessories. Nice looking case in brown. I didn't buy the sony case as the protruding base screw makes the camera unable to stand upright on its own. Also I din need the top cover.
I bought a screen protector from 25 Cam in Funan also for $15. The lady there installed it for me. Quite good service from this new shop. She said there are micro scratches on my few day old screen already. So if you are thinking of getting a screen protector, better to get it soon.
