thanks all, i MIGHT get a tripod if it's within my budget. is carbon fibre a brand of tripod or something?? sore-eyez..SLR is nono for me. ahahaha..it means i need to constantly buy films..go darkroom..which all i have no knowledge of! guess i'll juz wanna play with 'instant' camera with some manuals setting. ahahaha...

is the following good?
512 memory stick pro - Sony MSX-512n @s$155, OR MSX-512S Pro @S$100
-cleaning kit - Akarui 1704H @S$6
-UV filter - Hoya 58 UV @S$11

is Hoya 58 UV good??? i duno wat kinda filter to get for the lens..

i kidding abt d carbon fibre tripod (material, not a brand) ah. stick 2 Slik (brand), its price will b more affordable. check out http://www.thkphoto.com/products/slik/index.html ya?;) set abt $80-$140 (jus my suggestion...) for tripod.

gd tripod 4 u is
. abt $80-$140 (jus my suggestion...)
. at least up 2 ur EyE-level
. got quick-release (QR) plate
. light enough 2 bring abt
. simple 2 use
. a tripod u will 1 2 use!!:bsmilie:

d folloeing 2nd & 3rd is so-so oni lah. but i think u should get Sony's Memory Stick Pro.

IMO, gd cleaning kit is:-
. anti-static brush (small 1 can liao)
. micro fibre cloth (4 wiping lense)
d spray 4 lense seldom need de.

Yep i checked. H1 is supplied with lens adapter ring, fits and filters with 58mm Thread.
I suppose you can juz ask for any 58mm UV filter and it wil fit.
Read abt H1 on DP review...it's a gd thing that this camera uses 2 x AA...use rechargeables can last a long time...290 shots at least.
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydsch1/page2.asp

However, if u ask me...sony is not for me.

wah:bigeyes: so many kinda tripods... i think tat one i slowly research then buy bah...

actually i dun quite understand the quote...which one is the ms pro? $135?

umm i know nothing abt the filter, cleaning kit n stuffs..but i suppose those are sufficient enuff??

btw, thanks for helping me with this thread, on the account tat sony's not ur cup of tea.:bsmilie: greatly appreciated for helping me out. & sore-eyez too! thanks!!! ;)

i actually have been readin dpreview sony talk thread..i found a lot of H1 users there & their comments & stuffs. but i guess it's bias in Sg...tat i find very little H1 user. *shrugs* different market bah.

The H1 design is more prosumer than consumer. The lens are sort of exposes, unlike normal point and shoot lens you only see the lens after power is on.

Thus spending a few bucks to protect your lens is certainly worth it.
It's good to see sony slowly coming out of its "exclusivity", starting to use items avail on the general market as their accessories.

It's very tempting to see sony products, so nicely designed and packaged...so many functions altogether...i do own a sony p-10 too... ;)

But thinking abt the price of the accessories, the exclusivity and the storage media puts me off...i used to be a sony supporter :( If you are into fanciful features sony maybe right for u, but talking abt the quality of the pictures...the performance just isn't there...my canon A70 beats my sony P-10 hands down

That's hell lot of discount as compares to the sony RPR , see sony page link belowhttp://www.sonystyle.com.sg/sonystyle/jsp/smallproduct/smallproductdisplay.jsp?Level1=26950&Level2=2058&page=sonyhome

Unbelievable u have $95 off retail for MSX-512n and $35 off retail for MSX-512n ...may need to double check the price for the former

mayb jus concentrate on cam 1st? u can save d Slik link 4 referance. i dun c any ms pro ler...

filter brands like Tokina & Hoya will do. there r coated (single) & multi-coated filters but they co$t more. a gd filter will not hav
. blotchy patches (like oil stain)
. misty layer
wen seen through, hard 2 describe here. i do hav a defective 1 though. hope tis info helps...

sometimes lots of research may not yield ideal results. that where past exp (not tt i got alot ahz:sweat: ) can aid in judgement. hope u (JuzJaz) will hav enough time 2 use ur new cam w/ ease & enjoy ur trip.

Sony does not hav a major following locally. but if u think its d rite cam 4 u jus buy it. u (may incl. ur family members) will b d 1 using it. i sometimes oso dun listen 2 other ppl's advise, cos ultimately i m d 1 living w/ my purchase.:) unless i got it as a gift.:bsmilie:

Both are MS Pro. Any MS that are 256MB and above are called 'Pro'. 'Duo' is the smaller sized MS. So your camera can take full sized and 'Duo' too.(Must use adapter) Duo sized are mainly used for cameras and smaller cameras. 'Magic gate' is some copyright thing that i dun really understand.

Your quote are for the normal 512 MS (Black colour) and high speed 512 MS. (Redish colour)

31210050.jpg

High speed cost more and 'Duo' size normally cost a bit more.

Alternatively you can buy other brands MS like Lexar or Sandisk. They're cheaper.

wow thanks! how much cheaper would Lexar or Sandisk cost then? for 512?

yzr500abe: compared the price to those on sony website, seems like it's really very discounted!!! but that's the quote i get from a shop. like unbelievable heh? :bsmilie:

thanks for the filter tips! n NO WAY! nobody's going touch my camera this time! my sis kept borrowing my canon ixus from me..until the side rubber slot came off. *faints* besides, if they drop ur camera, u also wont know unless u sense something wrong after borrowing. it's hard to ask them pay for it..so most probably u'll blame urself for lending the camera :sticktong so NO WAY! hahahaha :bsmilie:
