Better start saving, man.
The BBB never seems to end.

i think type of memory use will concern most people.... but i believe sony realise abt it recently.... f828 n V3 both able to use CF type1 &2 and MS.
Probably all the prosumer from sony infuture will have dual slot....i think its a good idea too.... with CF1 slot...u can use SD too(SD-CF adapter $50 only)
so i would say my f828 is actually MS,CF n SD compatable :D

sd-cf adapter only $35 lar.. just got mine from wisdom light

Sony is already a big giant to begin with. they dun sell sensors juz to nikon only, Pentax, KM also using Sony sensor. remember the advisory notice? evey other brand use Sony sensor for their digicams.

i have a feeling Carl Zeiss will also make lenses to fit onto KM since Sony has some licensing agreement with them already. then what will we see next? maybe Leica lens on the 4/3 due to the affiliation with Panasonic (Matsushita)?

What shall be the name of the camera when Sony completes purchase of Konica and Minolta? They have to do something. Some cameras now have Konica and Minolta on them. Add Sony to that and we'll see the introduction of new w-i-d-e format cameras, just to fit all three names on the cameras.

When the technologies of all three companies are merged into one, what will Sony name the new camera? :what:

My guess is: MinoKoSon

What do you think the brand name of the new camera line will be?

The winner of the contest will receive a coupon that is good for a 10 minute reduction of the hold-time whenever you call SonyStyle for customer support.

:bsmilie: :bsmilie: How did you ever manage to think up such a name? ~ MinoKoSon :sweatsm:

Glad that MinoKoSon brought you a chuckle.

Aside from blending the 3 company names into one, MinoKoSon has a Japanese sound to it.

Hopefully, the word, MinoKoSon, does not really mean something in the Japanese language. But if it does, let it be a good thing.

It would be neat if it meant something like gigantic. Hey, maybe we'll see Sony Motion Picture Div. start a series of motion pictures that will become classics like the Godzilla movies. Maybe we'll see movie advertisements like:

MinoKoSon Terrorizes Whole Factories! Watch, as millions of pixels are crushed when MinoKoSon tramples down the skyscrapers of camera manufacturers! Mere megapixels cannot stop MinoKoSon!

Soon to be released at your local theatres or security-encoded on DVD at your local stores.

:bsmilie: Don't really need big adverts, just give me specs -- like the following: -

Body liken to F828 (luv that swivel and the classic black look  ) with all the current specs but improvement in the following: -

1) with bigger CMOS sensor for high ISO performance, clean images up to 1600
2) bigger lcd screen say, 2.5"
3) Stretch that CZ lens may be 24 to 300mm?? plus KM anti shake func!

Bet that will give those DSLR a run for money! :bsmilie:

Just one more : - MPEG 4 movie mode for better quality clips and compression. What they have now in F828 is way over sized..

can ask 4D numbers from u? doesn't matter if it opens only two years later. :bsmilie: ;)

anyway, we won't see a Chinese digicam manufacturer within 100 years.
their science & tech have been such big disappointments.

Hmm.... some Chinese photography equipments are quite reputable and good quality optics too. Digicam or not, I guess is just whether are chinese branching into this sector and probably not so much of science or tech because they had visited outer space afew times liao and S'pore will be having China made cars very soon too. I not a very "China" person but I do use afew Aigo MP3 Players and Amoisonic NetDVD Player with not much problem at all.:)

With Sony building sensors for Nikon, incorporating lens technology with Carl Zesis, wonder will Sony overtake Nikon and Canon in the digital camera's market share in the future.

Sony have successful establish a foothold in telecommunication market is one example of Sony strategic victory by partner with Ericssion.
Panasonic is very close to Sony as an great competitor, Samsung is catching up too.

Present situation : Nikon vs Canon (2 great camera makers)
Future situation : Sony vs Panasonic (2 great electronic giants)

Rumours now from a Japanese friend working in Sony that Sony are developing new sensors, enhance lens for F828 replacement.
Shall wait and see. ;p

sony already has the sales network in place, the brand name, the R&D people. now they've KM's technology and products. this introduction of the A100 with a few rebranded lenses and flash, and several lenses with carls zeiss, shows that sony has the financial means and technical ability to come out with the complete system to compete with canon and nikon.

i believe that a lot of photographers are looking at the whole system...not just a few bodies and lens....and it seems like sony has a good chance.

i admit that even i am tempted to switch....hahahaha

irregardless of everything else, i think if u look at all the professional photographers worldwide and u will notice that the only 2 professional dslr are Canon and Nikon, period. It is very hard , almost impossible to change. Imagine this scenario, Ferrari and Lamborghini, Honda may come out with something more innovative or just as powerful, but still it will never over take the trademark of a true Ferrari and Lamborghini. The loyal customer wil stick to their true gem.

KT your fears / dreams / predications 2 yrs ago was spot on.

how about predication for this weekend 4D :bsmilie:

I find it funny that many people whine about Sony and its memory sticks.
Compact cam users won't be whining so much about memSticks. How often do consumers buy memory? once every year?

MemSticks are pricy. But they are small. If they are small, cams can be designed to be smaller and lighter.

whine whine whine whine.

Don't forget, 10+ yrs ago it was the big 3: Canon, Minolta, Nikon...

20+ yrs ago, Minolta was the #1 AF SLR brand...

so things do change...

:) this is a bit short-sighted right?

once, nikon was the more common professional's camera, now it's canon. panasonic has come out of nowhere and is making very interesting and popular cameras. leica is still famous, but struggling. kodak and sony are two of the best selling brands in the point and shoot market. the digital camera industry is very new, and there are many changes still to come... why assume that the world will stay as we know it? :dunno:
