Sony A7 with M mount lens

Hi. Just to check. How many versions of the 12mm are there? Searched the web but was unable to find any comparisons.

Any adapter and shops to recommend?

should be just 2.

the older version comes in black and chrome and the hood can be remove.

the older version even have its own filter http://www.amazon.com/Voigtlander-77mm-Filter-Adapter-12mm/dp/B001HAARVO

for the new version, it comes only in black and the hood cannot be removed.

2 versions.
LTM and M mount.

LTM one will need to source for the filter holder.
It has a little bit of metal hood.
Get this if you like the lens looking smaller and either not going to use filters or can source for the additional filter holder.
BTW, the holder will take 72mm filters
As the aperture and focus ring are at about the same level, its easier to accidentally move either one when adjust the other.
Not that its that big a deal since this lens will often stay f8-f11 and hyperfocal distance.
Beautifully small.

M mount version has a built in fixed filter holder that acts as a hood too.
More convenient in that sense as there is one less thing to fidget with, but it also will always be bigger because of that. (otherwise, lens is the same size)
Takes 67mm filters which conviniently just screw on.

I have the M mount version.
Sometimes I wish I had it smaller with the ltm version, but I know I am lazy to fidget with attaching and carrying an additional filter holder and would likely end up with it attached to the lens 100% of the time anyway. :D

gotten my first mf lens...
its sooooo tough shooting with it haha...
sharing... guess needs more practice...
pardon the noise... shot at real low lighting conditions...

yeah its not easy to shoot MF :-) imagine those photograpers before AF was invented :-) shoot sport with it and others you need to have a very good technique and think before you shoot :-). Few pointers I've learned after shooting with MF

1. Peaking is a MUST! :-) unless you uber good :-)
2. Position your self where your subject mostly like to move side to side of you (left and right) once you set your focus it's almost no need to refocus :-)
3. Avoid shooting subject that is moving away and towards you
4. If you can't avoid Situation 3 make sure you move same pace as your subject e.g. stalking from behind or walking backwards and facing your subject or if your expert enough you focus while your subject is moving or pre-focus to a pre-determine spot once your subject on that area shoot!
5. Like Advise 4 anticipate where your subject may land and pre-focus there. This is good for street photog just stand in one area let your subject fall into your trap lolz

That's All I can think of maybe other bros here would have other techniques to share :-)

its so tough haha... just to check... sometimes the subject eyes don't peak at all... and at times subject peak back ground which is quite far behind also peak.... is it becos the focus peaking is not accurate??.. hmm..

Hi

Check the adapter. Those made in China ones some of them has some movement, either at camera mount area or lens mount area. Peaking I believe may also depend on the contrast of the subject. There is no way to get perfect peaking. Use same adapter and same lens combo often until u get a fill. Sometime the best sharpest picture is NOT the one u thinking peaking show its sharp. U have to try and get a feel. Diff to tell and i am still learning.
