He he same here bro mine was the Minolta rokkor 58 f1.2 I didn't bid hard enough I could have it less than the price now...

Me too...I regretted not buying Apple Inc shares when it was below $30 per share ;p

FE 55/1.8... Congratz to the bros who were able to get it locally today...

Just checked fe 55 1.8 at dfs terminal 2 - no stock.. Was hoping to grab one today just before going to Perth.. Sianzzz

Buy from Perth? Cheaper right?

Official stocks in Singapore not released yet, so low chances for you to find one in airport. Some shops may bring in 1-2 from parallel sources, but all sold out by now. No local warranty for some, as they probably only offer shop warranty.

If you are back on 29 Jan, you may have chance.

Or wait for another few weeks, and some will appear in BNS. Not many people are used to 55mm focal lenghth.

I like the sharpness and bokeh @ the right condition of the FE 55 f1.8 but I find it renders image looking too clinical... I don't know why I am seeing it that way.... just like most other modern lenses they are uber sharp and resolve nicely but I find it technical or clinical. Its like looking at a drawing made by an engineer :-). I am not saying the lens is not good it is awesome :-)

To make a comparison modern lenses like the FE 55 it's like looking at a floor layout with all the details clearly out lined. And other lenses such as Minolta 58mm f1. Rokkor you're looking at a painting... hope I manage to convey my thought well hehe with that said FE 55 f1.8 is not a bad lens its a great lens and super sharp even wide open :-)

U R one very artsy guy bro... The reason I bought the FE 55/1.8, it performs efficiently with AF for lazy, spontaneous shooting... Legacy lenses I used are mainly for arty farty drawing like the painting analogy you mentioned. Versatility is a good thing. I feel that FE 55/1.8 is one superb lens that is of a balanced rendering. Technically near perfection but as seen, doesnt appeal to classical shooters!
