Sony A7/(r) image sharing thread

went back to the office to grab my laptop, so took a few shots in the late afternoon

shooting the blue skies reminded me why i liked the A7/r so much.

Nice shot.

I will wait for a while to see if someone else comes up with other UWA options (pref small, but don't care about AF).
But the Samyang sure looks good.

Yea, the Samyang works but it is indeed very big plus an adapter making it even bigger. The front element is also so huge there's no filter for it.
There is quite a fair bit of distortion but it can mostly be fixed in post or by shooting at an angle etc..
That shot was done just for fun only...
The main reason for the Samyang...it's MUCH cheapre than any other UWA lens in the market...cheap and somewhat good for that price. I'm not a landscape shooter so the Samyang works well for me...not something i will use often..no point spending so much

ya agree this is prob one of the most value for money UWAs. loved it on my 5D3 previously for landscapes

where? how you tell? is it distortion or alignmebt issue? I honestly don't know the difference. .I just bought a cheap pixco manual adapter.

Reasonably good o/p need not be branded nor expensive.
Good photographs certainly even less so

the area to the left of the red line seems smeared or smudged, but the right side of the entire image looks sharp. you can probably tell better looking at the full sized images

sharing another 2 more on A7r with the Techart smart adaptor with AF

must say the 16-35 mk1 surprised me in terms of how much resolution it could display on the a7r. looking at a shot from my 5D3 taken right after, suddenly the IQ of my 5D3 seems not that good haha... same with the the Sigma 35 1.4. So much more details from the a7r's excellent sensor

Haha..now i'm reminded why i sold my 5D3..i have often found it not "sharp" enough..it just couldn't cut my bread...not sharp..hehe

You are right..it does look smudged doesn't it..
I'll have to try another photo to verify it...so far, this was the only photo i have with this lens
It could also be because of the angle i was shooting from. I was shooting off the railing of the HDB and not shooting straight...But you could be right also...i'll do another test another time to see if i still see the same issues..this time i should shoot straight in front and not to the side.

The FA77 is a sharp fast lens, but I find that it has quite a bit of CA on the A7r, and will often require PP. This is possibly because it was designed for the film era. When the appropriate FE lens appears, I will probably sell the FA77 to fund purchase of the FE lens. I haven't been using my FA77 since I got the AF adapter for my Contax G90 but may return to it for the occasional night shoot.

Pixel density is higher on A7r.
There is sanity sticking to 20-24mp.
Those lenses with poorer CA control are often the ones with a drawing style I like.
Precisely because the colour is abberating at the oof transition and creates this bold outline over the subject in high contrast areas.
Technical excellence does not always mean a better lens.



I am not impressed at all with G 90 o/p.
Of course its not too expensive too.
The are many other fast 85mm, 100mm out there that I'd rather get.

the fe 35 and 55 are both incredible lenses for the fe system..I hope sony keeps this momentum for all future fe lenses.
