U R into the wrong expectation if u purely want sharpness... Rokkors are about colours and Bokeh

There are those who love more megapixels, more resolving power etc and rightly so, especially if you want to make large prints.

Me I love my lens with nicer colour rendition, good contrast and "more character" so to speak (since I hardly ever make a print larger than 8" x 10"

character is another subjective term... LOL... quite often over-used and mis-used... :bsmilie:

Here is an album of my latest shoot using 2 cameras..
An A7R with the 35mm Zeiss and 50mm Canon FD and a NEX6 with the Sony 50mm f1.8 lens.
See if you can spot which image is from which camera..the nex6 is pretty good as it is...can't really tell the difference from teh a7r when in facebook.

Just a PK to NEX adapter.
The FA series of lenses have an aperture ring.
Its the DA series of lenses that don't have an aperture ring.
For those, it will need an adapter than can control the aperture lever.

IMO, sometimes we tend to look too far.
To some elusive RF and pricey 75mm or Biotar, Priomotar.
But when I used the 77ltd the other day, I realized that I already had something along that vein, that is available new with modern coatings.
Still thinking of a Biotar/Primotar off course. :D

The FA limiteds are all full metal build and small for their focal lengths.
Very nice fit to the small form factor of the A7.

Yes, we all want that lens that is not in our bags. I am not in a hurry to buy native mount lenses as we have not heard from Zeiss, Sigma and the rest yet. And I am already happy that my lenses, being mostly M42, can adapt to almost any systems. So I am sticking with them.

This lens is really sweet at near distances.

Today's overcast ... so monochrome.

A7 + VC12 LTM (in-body app - Lens compensation) + ND filters

30s, f8, iso 50

Enjoying my rokkor pair.. just to share some from the 35mm (all SOOC JPG)

IMO very accurate metering & nice color. indoor shot wide open.

stepped down and it gets a lil sharper

same setting as the first pic with the 50mm f1/4. Sharpness is there but the contrast seems to be evidently lacking as compare to the 35mm ? :dunno:

Rokkor's colorimetry is renowned... Enjoy them...

This is not so much sharing an image but rather "testing" out the Samyang 14mm on the A7R.
I think this is the cheapest UWA solution that actually works on the A7r.. Yes, some CZ and Leica will work but those cost tons of money..Samyang is cheap...and it works.
Just took some test shots at the shop i bought the adapter from and went downstair to test a random shot..

On the a7R.

Hi, did you notice any yellow cast in the centre of the frame after the compensation correction? Was told that the apps will apply the correction to the entire frame so while it can get rid of the magenta cast at the edges, it will also induce yellow cast in the centre too.

been away for a while on diaper and milk feeding duty for the past week! sharing a picture of my new kaza case that arrived a couple of days ago.

like this case more than the gariz design, and it helps that this is half the price of the gariz from ebay. only downside of this case is that the remote control infrared sensor is blocked and the 2 flaps for hdmi/charging is blocked on the side as well. not a problem for me since i use the external charger and not using any remote controls yet

LCD screen swivels freely and there is a cut out same as gariz for the battery to be inserted and removed.

cool..

How do you transfer your photos to PC then?

Two shots with the Pentax FA77/1.8 Limited

This lens is about the size of a 50mm f1.8, which obviously cannot be shown in the picts, but adds to its easy of portability in my camera bag.

The FA77 is a sharp fast lens, but I find that it has quite a bit of CA on the A7r, and will often require PP. This is possibly because it was designed for the film era. When the appropriate FE lens appears, I will probably sell the FA77 to fund purchase of the FE lens. I haven't been using my FA77 since I got the AF adapter for my Contax G90 but may return to it for the occasional night shoot.
