I'm not sure as I shot in raw.

If I am not mistaken, that's why you are getting distorted and soft edges.

I don't get why Sony have to screw up this lens. I would have preferred if they had took their time with this..

yeah when shooting RAW need to correct the distortion from this lens as its really bad. 1st time I use this lens I was put off by how bad it distort. It could be correct by LR with the correct lens profile or in body when shooting JPEG. It's a sharp lens sadly the distortion is its weakness that's why I stick at 16-35/2.8 even if it's freaking huge plus LAEA4 hehe

I read some where... saying this lens is actually 22 to 23mm at its widest end to allow allowance for distortion correction in post processing.... interesting hor...

Pretty much spot on. Shows your experience with legacy lenses he he. FD lens definitely better but rokinon is pretty darn good for the price!

2nd shot does have a smoother bkgnd to me, could be f1.2 and more shallow DOF or really lens rendering (need a closer 1 to 1 comparison at same f-stop).
2nd shot also looks cooler (usually the Canon FD are like that)

So if one can pay,
I think 85/1.2 is still better (if I am correct)
Law of diminishing returns as usual between the two.
The other thing is that the Samyang 85/1.4 isn't known to be that good stopped down past f2.8

no one really confirm this but yes compare to the RAW and JPEG coming from this lens the RAW photos are wider than the corrected JPEG. I have seen great photos from this lens just that the price is very stiff for the issue it has.

Bro I have seen bro PinHoleCamera nick even since I started in CS if I am not wrong he is also one of the few who started in m4/3 using legacy lenses :-)

Samyang aka Rakinon is really a value for money I love their FE lens sadly they don't have one for FF (yet I guess)

It's only good at the centre. Corners are tad soft, IMO

When I tested it didn't have a chance to shoot landscape it's all indoor so only so the obvious issue I saw the really bad distortion when shooting raw

Test shoot with canon 16-35L M2
A huge combo with A7r but no choise have to wait fe16-35 :(
