Dun expect this combo to b good for active kids capturing.

Any recommendations on a good combo? Main aim is to capture active kids in an indoor environment but it'd be well-lighted though like shopping malls, schools or at home. Definitely not a candle-light environment.

Af on a7 may not meet your needs. I recommend u have a look at a6000.

2nd ryanlio's recommendation. a6000 maybe a better choice and you can retain your e mount APS-C lenses

Thanks for the tip folks. After some research, I think I am quite sold on the A6000 for my needs at the moment. Hope it serves well with my 24mm f1.8.

Don't forget to play with the camera and take some photos and bring them home before you buy it. Don't base your decision on reviews or other's opinions. ;)

Good tip. I had a few shots yesterday at 313 and tried indoor photos with A7 + 55mm/f1.8 but unfortunately, the AF seems quite slow and off at times. Told my kid to run around the shop lol...

Next trip will try A6000 in more detail.

I think a6000 cant capture your running kid as well... you need a D4s

Not even a d4s or 1dx can reliably track the movements of a kid running around at close distances. Hehehe. Kids are too quick and unpredictable.

Even a single AF point DSLR can do that, it just depends on your skill level. :)

depends also on the energy level, speed and randomness of your kids running around hehe.

My point is sports/pro cameras do well in tracking sport activities and movements from a far with teles and super teles. if you are using fast aperture 35, 50mm equivalent lense to take shots of kids running around, don't expect the camera's AF system to be able to keep up accurately at close distances.

hehe if you are in Single AF and can lure your target to the AF area, you don't need a good fast focusing camera! A7r will do too

Single AF mode and lure target to the designated AF area?

I don't know the A7 well enough but from experiences with other mirror-less cameras, their AF still isn't reliable enough to get a proper hit rate even in those situations. A decent single AF point in a classical SLR is still like magic compared to PDAF, not always super accurate but still more hits close enough in action. ;)

P.S: For everything static I prefer the closed loop of the contrast detection.

Using A7r without Optical nor in body stabilization is very hard need to shoot at faster shutter speed :-)
